wingLESS Sprints Welcome New Presenting Sponsor

02/03/2018, USA, Motorsport-Speedway, USA Speedway Racing, Article # 25946057
The IRA's Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series is proud to announce that Sycamore, IL based AutoMeter is coming onboard as presenting sponsor of the series for 2018. "AutoMeter is proud  to be the presenting sponsor of this growing IRA series. We are always looking for different ways to support the racer and this is an excellent opportunity. The open wheel market is growing and we want to be a part of it. We have been developing new products specifically for the open wheel and dirt markets and this is a great way to promote them," says Marc Erickson, Director of Motorsports for AutoMeter.
The series is entering its' 4th season and the level of competition and explosive growth of the series has made it one of the true success stories in all of motorsports over this time. "The car itself is no different than any other sprint car, whether it be a USAC, WoO, IRA, ASCoC roller etc. The only difference is the engine, as only two options are allowed, the GM604 or (build your own) spec option. We also allow the crates to be freshened and repaired unlike many other groups. We have a good tech process in place and we keep the local engine builders in the game. The engines utilize a 4 barrel alcohol carb. We made the right choice with the engine, it's a Sprint Car! Some other groups utilizing a crate engine have chosen to use the 602, which is a good engine but a little less powerful and is more frequently found in a B-Mod or Street Stock" states IRA President Steve Sinclair. "We truly do have something special here. We have found proven success and longevity with our 410/winged Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series, and to have a nationally recognized company such as AutoMeter add their name to the newer wingLESS group is something that shows we are taking the right steps with this group too. We're really proud of this. It goes right into their point fund."
IRA's Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Series presented by AutoMeter opens the 2018 season April 21st at Beaver Dam Raceway, in a show which also includes the Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints and Badger Midgets. The series calls Wilmot Raceway home, but also ventures to off to select other area venues and will participate in 25-30 events in 2018, including backing up the World of Outlaws at Wilmot June 2nd. Jodie Robinson set to focus racing efforts in Northern California for 2018

Foresthill, CA – January 23, 2018…Foresthill, California youngster Jodie Robinson is gearing up for the 2018 racing season and will be shifting her focus to competing regularly aboard a Winged Sprint Car in her home state of California.

This past season saw the fourteen-year-old Robinson bounce back and forth between dirt tracks in Northern California and piloting a midget with Keith Kunz Motorsports in the Midwest, while also spending time in a pavement late model and an Outlaw Kart.

For the upcoming year she is scheduled to center her efforts on competing full-time in a Winged 360 Sprint Car at the Placerville Speedway, a venue where her father David is a former three-time track champion.

“I definitely look forward to running the Winged 360 full-time in California this year,” Robinson commented. “Competing at Placerville Speedway on a weekly basis will be a lot of fun and a great experience to get under my belt. Placerville is a technical track and there’s always a lot of great competition each week. It’s one of my favorite tracks because of the atmosphere and I always love to see so many young fans in the pit area after the races. My dad had a lot of success there as well, so it’s really cool that I’ll have the chance to run there.”

Last year Robinson had a total of 12 starts in a Winged 360 Sprint Car out west. Her highlight during those outings came when she held off decorated champions Kyle Hirst, Andy Forsberg and Sean Becker to win a heat race at the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout in Placerville during the month of September.

“I really want to thank Brown Eagle Racing for the opportunity to drive for them once again,” she said. “Every time I hit the track I use it as a learning experience and I feel that focusing solely on the Winged Sprint Car will be a benefit this season. I felt like we had some bright moments in limited starts last year, so I can’t wait to get it all underway in March. I had a blast running around the country last year in different cars, but believe that running in a consistent environment will help me develop as a driver even more.”

Robinson, who turns fifteen on February 5, is one of the many graduates from the Outlaw Kart ranks in Northern California. She started racing karts at the age of seven and has captured 85 wins in her career, along with the 2016 Cycleland Speedway 500cc Open Intermediate championship.

This past season she also had the opportunity to take part in Toyota Media Day and go through various seminars with the company. “Being able to travel around and do interviews for FS1 with guys like Kyle Busch and Eric Jones was pretty special. Being a part of Toyota Motorsports Day and signing autographs alongside some of the Toyota legends in Texas was something I’ll never forget either. All of that was truly a great experience and one that I’m thankful for.”

In addition to competing at the Placerville Speedway on a regular basis Robinson also hopes to run with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards as much as possible in 2018. She is scheduled to open the season at the annual Silver Cup in Chico on March 2 and 3.

Jodie Robinson would like to thank Brown Eagle Racing, Roseville Precision, Rod Tiner Racing, Steve and Sharon Katonis, Janet and Mike Larson of MAJIK Motorsports, John Boy, Bullard Construction, Toyota Racing Development, M&L Plumbing, Morrison Concrete, Pacific Adhesive and Gary Morgan Graphics for their support this season.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY TO OPEN. . .

12TH USAC AMSOIL NATIONAL SPRINT CAR SERIES EASTERN STORM THURSDAY, JUNE 14

BECHTELSVILLE, PA – One of the hottest tickets of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill season, the wingless warriors of the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship kick off their only East Coast tour at Grandview Speedway on Thursday night, June 14.  The tradition continues as the Thunder Series opens this wildly popular annual tour.

In 2007, Thunder on the Hill special events promoter, Bob Miller and the Rogers Family, brought the nation’s longest touring Sprint Car group back to Pennsylvania after a nearly 30-year absence from the region.

“I vividly remember USAC being such an integral part of the Reading Fairgrounds history,” Miller recollects.  “In some ways, my love of Reading made me so passionate about bringing USAC back to the east coast and specifically back to Berks County at Grandview.”

USAC came back in full force and remains one of the must-see events of the racing season.

Forty Eastern Storm events have been held since the debut of the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship in 2007.  Levi Jones and Bryan Clauson are tied with the most wins of Eastern Storm history with six victories each.  Five different drivers reached victory lane in 2017 – three for the first time in Storm history -- while Chris Windom went on to win the Eastern Storm Championship.

Heading into the 12th Eastern Storm, the Bechtelsville, PA 1/3-mile dirt track opens the tour with the Jesse Hockett Classic, a 40 lap battle for the non-wing 410 sprint cars.  Joining the program will be the popular 358 NASCAR Modifieds.  Gates open at 5 PM wit race time set or 7:30 PM.  Grandview and Thunder on the Hill are the only facility to have held a USAC event in every year of Eastern Storm history.  Defending winner of this event on the hill is Brady Bacon.

The series heads to Mechanicsburg, PA’s Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, June 15, while Port Royal Speedway brings the series into night number three on Saturday, June 16.

York Haven, PA’s Susquehanna Speedway lands on the schedule for the sixth consecutive year, on Sunday, June 17.   For the first time, United States Auto Club drivers head to Bridgeport Speedway on Monday, June 18 and the Storm concludes on Tuesday, June 19 at Weedsport Speedway.

Past Eastern Storm winners like Robert Ballou – who swept all three 2015 events, Brady Bacon – who holds wins at Grandview Speedway and Port Royal Speedway, Chad Boespflug, and Chase Stockon are expected for competition.

The Eastern Storm kicks off on Thursday, June 14 with the Jesse Hockett Classic – dedicated to the memory of the 2009 Grandview race winner.  Joining the USAC non-wing Sprint Cars are Grandview’s popular 358 Modifieds.

Key sponsors are returning for the 29th season of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series.  Joining NAPA Auto Parts is Pioneer Pole Buildings, Levan Machine and Truck Equipment,  Quaker Steak & Lube, GALCO Business Communications and Eli’s Auto Parts.

Advance tickets for the Grandview Speedway USAC/358 Modified event are available by calling 443-513-4456.  Callers are required to leave their name, phone number, and the number of tickets requested.  Callers can then pick-up and pay for their tickets at the Grandview Speedway’s Will-Call Window after 4 PM.  Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 4:30 PM – a full 30 minutes before tickets go on sale to the public.

Grandview Speedway is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA just minutes off Route 100.

NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series can be found on the web at www.ThunderontheHillRacingSeries.com.  You can follow along all of the Thunder on the Hill events on Facebook, and on Twitter and Instagram @tothracing.

Race Car Driver Cale Conley Signs with Dave Jessup Racing for
2018 Tony Stewart Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit of Champions

Cale Conley Racing – Vienna, WV (January 15, 2018) Race car driver Cale Conley, of Vienna, WV, has announced his partnership with Dave Jessup Racing (DJR) to run Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit of Champions 2018 season.  Conley is scheduled to race the DJR sprint car in 55 All-Star events, on 36 tracks in nine states. More races may be added, with a potential for up to 70 events as they participate in select World of Outlaw races as well.

Conley, 25, has been racing since the age of 6. He drove sprint cars in 2009-10, then went south to NASCAR from 2011 to 2015.  In 2016 he raced dirt late models and five sprint car races. “I raced against Dave Jessup’s car at a race in ’16, and we made a plan to get together for the following season,” said Conley. “We exceeded expectations and won a couple of races in 2017, so this year we’re going to race the full All-Star season.”

The DJR shop is based in Dayton, Ohio, where Jessup just retired as an automotive instructor at a technical high school. He has always been involved in sprint car racing, building cars and engaging drivers. Cale is looking forward to the full experience with Jessup – with new cars, equipment, truck and trailer, and a lot of tracks he’s never seen before. “I’m excited to race this many times in one year,” said Conley. “Traveling with a small team takes me back to old-school racing, after my time in NASCAR. Of course, my eventual goal is to get back down south to NASCAR, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to drive a full season and get some All-Star wins under my belt.”

This will be a big year for Conley, recently engaged to marry Emma Blaney, who is already steeped in the racing world. Her father, Dave Blaney, running full All-Stars, her brother, NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney, and Uncle Dale are all well-known names in the sport.  Cale is looking forward to racing against future in-laws Dave and Dale this season in this strong, up and coming series owned and managed by Tony Stewart.   “I’m just excited for all the new adventures this year,” he laughs.

Conley’s 7K car will feature a black and white paint scheme, as chosen by an online vote by his followers on social media. Joe Cheuvront of Joe Cheuvront Originals, a Parkersburg, WV designer, has created the graphics for this and most of Cale’s past cars. Conley plans to spend a good deal of time at the shop in Dayton when they’re not on the road, returning to his home in Vienna, WV, when he has down time.

Both a race car driver and a businessman, Conley is making his
own way as he focuses on securing sponsors through a revolutionary new avenue. His official car sponsor is Merchant Services Ltd, a credit card processing company which allows businesses to dedicate their credit card processing fees to sponsoring Cale’s race car. “It’s a cool way for companies to support me without spending an extra dime,” Cale says, and he has been knocking on doors both locally and nationally to sign up those who want to be part of a successful race team. “I’ve brought on some old friends, and made some new ones, as I share the opportunity to use those unavoidable credit card fees to become part of my sponsorship package and get your business name on my car.”

Cale, with DJR racing, will make their All-Star debut in Florida on February 1-3, at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida.  The team will spend two weeks doing Florida Speed Weeks leading up to the Daytona 500, then will begin a rigorous schedule.  More information and a complete race schedule can be found at www.caleconley.com, and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will again headline annual Fair & Festival events such as the Langlade County Fair (July 27), the Kenosha County Fair’s Roger Iles Tribute (Aug 18), Sun Prairie’s Miller Lite Corn Fest at Angell Park (Aug 19), the Sheboygan County Fair (Sept 1), and the Clay Co Fair in Spencer, IA in a non-point affair on Sept 14.

Other popular annual events back on for 2018 include, as examples, The Wipperfirth Memorial at Beaver Dam (April 21), the Norm Nelson Classic at Angell Park (June 17), the Harry Neitzel Tribute at Dodge Co (July 6), the Filskov Memorial at Plymouth (July 21), the Schmidt Memorial at Dodge Co (Aug 24), the Northern Nationals at Superior (Sept 7), the Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake (Sept 8), the Semmelmann Memorial at Beaver Dam (Sept 22), and the Waite Jr Memorial at LaSalle (Sept 23).

141 Speedway will again host a trio of events around holiday weekends, May 27, July 1, and Sept 2. The first two are all IRA events as IRA’s Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints Series, and the WIMS Mini Sprints share the card.

The IRA has a trio of co-sanctioned IRA / All Star Challenge races with Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Those major events will go trackside at Plymouth (May 19), Angell Park (May 20), and the Dirt Oval @ Route 66 (June 30). All 3 of these races were chose by the ASCoC to be included in their 2018 limited MAVTV package. The Joliet event at Route 66 is Saturday night of Chicagoland Speedway’s big NASCAR weekend, following the conclusion of the NASCAR Xfinity race just across the street.

The IRA officially has the events at 34 Raceway, Fairbury American Legion Speedway, and LaSalle Speedway listed as co-sanctioned races with MOWA, though it is likely that the MOWA sanction will be added to enhance one or two of the currently listed multiple race Wisconsin weekends too.

While Deer Creek isn’t new to the IRA schedule, it’s been several years since the series has run at the 3/8 highbanks, as last year’s return visit fell victim to rain.

As mentioned there are some co-sanctions, but the overall the majority of the schedule is filled with numerous special events where other sanctions such as the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprints (9), WIMS Mini Sprints (7), MSA Sprints (6), Badger Midgets (4), POWRI Midgets (2), UMSS Sprints (2), POWRI Lucas Oil WAR Sprints (2), Dirt King Late Models (1), plus others too that will share the race night line-up card with IRA in 2018. A FEW examples include Beaver Dam (April 21 & Sept 22) as IRA, WI wingLESS, and the Badger Midgets all compete on the same night. Dodge Co (July 6) includes IRA, MSA, and the Dirt King Late Models. Fairbury (July 7) & Angell Park (Aug 19) includes IRA and the POWRI Nat’l Midgets. Wilmot (Aug 4) has IRA, the POWRI Lucas Oil WAR non-wing Sprints, and WIMS. Cedar Lake (Sept 8) & Deer Creek (Sept 15) include IRA, and both UMSS 360 and UMSS Traditional Sprints on the card. Those are just some of the outstanding combinations fans can expect in 2018!

The IRA is also proud to announce that the overwhelming majority of the 2018 schedule will pay $3000 (or more) to win!

The 4 non-point events listed on the schedule have participation incentives tied to them for any IRA member team that competes, and are also purposely included to allow IRA teams that want to race at major events like the Knoxville Nationals, and/or Jackson Nationals some laps at those venues prior to those big events. Same holds true of Oskaloosa which has a very similar shape as Knoxville, plus the Osky event is officiated in part by the IRA staff. And lastly, our friends at SLS Promotions are putting on the Clay Co Fair event and the IRA staff will officiate again… plus it provides a good travel tie-in for those who want to race another show in conjunction with the full point event at Deer Creek the next night.

The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will conclude their “full” point season again by headlining the 2nd annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships,   at Plymouth (Sept 29). The event will include MSA, WI wingLESS, and WIMS in their championship full point finales too.

The IRA is proud to have Bumper To Bumper Auto Parts & Service Centers as their title sponsor, and thank Osborn & Son Trucking, Hoosier Tire, TW Metals, Cummins Onan, Carriage Auto Body, and Hopf Farms for their continued loyal, and generous support.

Sheldon Haudenschild dominates for Arctic Cat All Star win at Wayne County Speedway

ORRVILLE, OH (April 22, 2017) - With his World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series weekend commitments in Arkansas and Missouri washed away by Mother Nature, Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild decided to make the long trek home. The decision proved to be worth $5,000.

Sheldon Haudenschild dominated Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition on Saturday evening at Wayne County Speedway, charging forward from sixth on the main event grid to win the non-stop, 30-lap A-main by a margin equaling six seconds. The current World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year point leader took command for the first time on lap 12, driving under his father, Jac Haudenschild, between the first and second corner. It was the 16th Arctic Cat All Star victory of Haudenschild’s career and his fifth at Wayne County Speedway.

“This car was a dream all night long,” Sheldon Haudenschild explained in victory lane. “My guys did one heck of a job which made my job a lot easier, too. The track tonight was great as always. It’s pretty cool to come back here and have an opportunity to race close to home.”

The “Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild, aboard the Jamie Miller-owned No. 6M, led the Arctic Cat All Star field to green on Saturday night at Wayne County Speedway, quickly overtaken by Caleb Armstrong as the front-runners approached the flagstand for the first time. The New Castle, Indiana, native maintained on top until lap three when Jac Haudenschild reclaimed the point position. Haudenschild and Armstrong, soon flanked by Chad Kemenah, raced at the front of the field in that order until lap nine when Sheldon Haudenschild made his first appearance inside the top-three.

Haudenschild, aboard the Haudenschild Racing/Southern Pacific Farms/Finzer Farms/No. 93, drove by Chad Kemenah to claim third on lap nine, eventually taking the second position from Caleb Armstrong on lap ten. By that time, traffic had already started to intensify, allowing young Haudenschild to catch his father by utilizing slower cars, as well as the very topside of the speedway. The father/son duo battled through lap 11, only to swap positions on lap 12, with the winning move occurring near the exit of turn two. Sheldon Haudenschild was unchallenged the remaining distance, instantly increasing his advantage to a near-full straightaway by lap 15. When the final checkers flew, Haudenschild had a six second advantage, chased to the finish by Chad Kemenah, Jac Haudenschild, Caleb Armstrong, and Travis Philo.

“The cushion in one and two was really good, but my car was so good that I didn’t have to go up there and touch it much,” Haudenschild explained. “I got around my dad early, but you can never be too sure about him. He never gives up, so you almost have to expect that he’ll be coming back at some point. I wish him and I could have finished 1-2, but it is what it is. We are happy to get the win.”

With his runner-up finish, Chad Kemenah remains in control of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase. The five-time and defending Arctic Cat All Star champion now has seven top-ten feature finishes in eight Arctic Cat All Star starts.

“We have a really good race team right now. The car was really good all night long. Hats off to Sheldon [Haudenschild] and his guys. They were really good,” Kemenah explained. “Consistency is really important. We’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing and the wins and championships will show up.”

With their three-race swing through The Buckeye State complete, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will switch gears and turn east, this time crossing The Keystone State for a trio of programs in Central Pennsylvania. Dubbed the Pennsylvania Posse, Central Pennsylvania’s finest will challenge the near-20 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions teams on three consecutive occasions stretching from Friday, April 28, to Sunday, April 30.

The Arctic Cat All Stars will visit Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway, respectively, during the upcoming weekend, each awarding a $5,000 top prize, as well as full points toward the 2017 Arctic Cat All Star championship. “America’s Series” nearly swept competition in Central Pennsylvania during its spring swing of 2016, earning victories at Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway and Port Royal Speedway on April 17 and April 23.

Those seeking additional news and notes regarding the Central Pennsylvania triple-header should visit Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway live on the Web. More news will be published in the coming days via www.allstarsprint.com.
