FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

#LastCallForMethanol – Three Division “Sprintacular” Season Finale This Saturday at Eldora
6 p.m. Start Time For All Star Circuit of Champions, NRA 360 Sprint Invaders & BOSS Non-Wing Sprints

ROSSBURG, Ohio (October 6, 2016) – Eldora Speedway’s 63rd season of racing comes to a close this Saturday (October 8) with a three-division showcase of methanol-injected fury featuring the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions winged sprint cars, National Racing Alliance Sprint Invaders winged sprint cars and the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) non-wing sprint cars.

The evening activities will use Eldora’s autumn schedule, with Hot Laps at 4:30 p.m. (EDT) and racing starting at 6 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased atwww.eldoraspeedway.com or by calling (937) 338-3815.  Children (12 and younger) are admitted free to Eldora’s ample general admission seating areas.

The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) winged sprint cars powered by 410 cubic inch engines, will be making their fourth appearance of the season on Saturday.  Chad Kemenah, of Alvada, Ohio, is the defending race winner and is the current Arctic Cat All Star point leader and after a second place finish to Australian Ian Madsen in the ASCoC’s last Eldora appearance at the Four Crown Nationals, followed by Indiana drivers Randy Hannagan, Kraig Kinser, and Brady Bacon.  Madsen was the third different ASCoC winner at Eldora this season, joining Jac Haudenschild (Ohio Sprint Speedweek) and Donny Schatz (Kings Royal; show-up points event) in the record books.

Expected to challenge the touring stars of the ASCoC for the $5,000 winner’s purse are former Kings Royal winners Sammy Swindell and Jac Haudenschild.  Fan-favorite Rico Abreu, winner of the USAC National Midget Series event at the Four Crown Nationals, has a weekend off from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and will be back to avenge a late race spin from the lead in the September 24th ASCoC event.

Kemenah reclaimed the top spot in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase with a podium finish at the Four Crown Nationals and will lead the charge back to Rossburg, Ohio.  The former series champion, earning four consecutive titles from 2002 through 2005, enters the #LastCallForMethanol with a 20-point advantage in the title chase over Dale Blaney.

Blaney, a seven-time main event winner thus far in 2016, finds himself second in the championship chase entering the Sprintacular, is still mathematically eligible for the championship with two point events remaining.  The Hartford, Ohio, native holds a 50-point cushion over series win leader Sheldon Haudenschild (eight wins) for second, followed by Cap Henry and Kraig Kinser who round out the top-five, respectively.

The NRA Sprint Invaders, once again featured a tight points battle between Jared Horstman and Max Stambaugh with Horstman winning the championship by 32-points.  The $2,000-to-win race is expected to attract winged 360 cubic inch teams from across the Midwest and Canada.  Michigan’s Ryan Ruhl won the event in 2015.

In the non-winged BOSS Sprint Cars, Shawn Westerfeld of Guilford, Indiana, clinched the title last Saturday becoming the first driver in series history to repeat as champion.  With three wins on the season, a fourth victory for Westerfield would set a new series season win record.  A hearty field of the 410 cubic inch traditional sprint cars has historically appeared for the $1,500-to-win event.  Past event winners include two Californian’s Robert Ballou (2015) and Thomas Messeraul (2014), and Oklahoma driver Brady Bacon.

Tickets for the #LastCallForMethanol – The Sprintacular are just $20 for adults while children (12 and younger) are admitted free to General Admission seating for all events.  Order online at www.EldoraSpeedway.com or by calling the Speedway Box Office at (937) 338-3815.

Chad Kemenah reclaims Arctic Cat All Star championship point lead over Dale Blaney

ROSSBURG, Ohio (September 24, 2016) - Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time can make all of the difference. For Ian Madsen, that statement proved to be worth $5,000.

For the first time in his career, Ian Madsen is a main event winner at the world-famous Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio; scoring a victory against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during the 35th Annual Four Crown Nationals.

Climbing ahead from third on the feature grid, Madsen took command officially on lap 28, utilizing Rico Abreu’s misfortune while racing in the runner-up position. The victory was Madsen’s third against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during the course of his career, but his first in 2016. Chad Kemenah finished second, followed by Randy Hannagan, Kraig Kinser and Brady Bacon.

“It’s really awesome to get a win at this place,” Ian Madsen explained. “I’ve always dreamed of winning a race at Eldora Speedway. It’s really cool to be able to stand up here on this victory lane stage. I can’t thank my team enough for their hard work. Kyle, Mark, Jackson, and all of the guys back home, Brett and Matt; they all do so much. My crew chief, Kyle Ripper, gave me a great car tonight. We’ve been knocking on the door to get a big win, so this is awesome.”

A pair of California natives, Rico Abreu and Randy Hannagan, led the feature starters to green on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway. Hannagan earned the early advantage, leading Chad Kemenah and Rico Abreu by the flagstand for the first time. The “Hurricane” kept control for the first six circuits, eventually feeling some pressure from the duo racing directly behind him. A pair of cautions on lap seven would halt competition for the first time during the 30-lap main event, erasing Hannagan’s advantage at the front of the field. The cautions proved to be beneficial for second place running Rico Abreu; using the momentum change to drive by Hannagan when green flag action returned to officially lead the seventh circuit.

Abreu drove on to dominate the next 20 circuits, outrunning Randy Hannagan, Chad Kemenah and eventually Ian Madsen through two additional cautions and periods of intense traffic. Unfortunately, Abreu’s dominating performance would soon come to a halt; spinning all alone between turns three and four on lap 28, eventually adding Lee Jacobs to the pileup. Madsen, who battled his way forward after starting on the inside of row two, inherited command. His lucky strike would soon pay off, keeping Chad Kemenah and Randy Hannagan at bay for the last three circuits to secure $5,000 and a first-ever trip to the Eldora Speedway victory lane stage.

“I don’t think we had anything for Rico (Abreu),” Madsen explained. “We got a lucky break there, so we had to make the most of it.”

With his runner-up finish, Chad Kemenah officially reclaims the top spot in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase, now holding a 20-point cushion over Dale Blaney, and a 70-point cushion over Sheldon Haudenschild, heading into the next Arctic Cat All Star program. Blaney and Haudenschild each suffered from problems during the Four Crown Nationals main event; Blaney made contact with the turn four retaining wall, while Haudenschild suffered from engine failure.

“You have to finish every race. My crew always gives me a great opportunity to do that,” Chad Kemenah explained. “We just keep plugging away and we keep earning podiums. Ian (Madsen) had a really good car tonight. I actually felt like I was getting better and better as the race went on. We were able to move around quite a bit on the race track. We were good enough to run second to him and I’ll take it.”

With only two weeks to wait, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will return to The Big E on Saturday evening, October 8, for the Eldora Speedway season finale. Dubbed the Sprintacular, the sprint car triple-header will feature the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, NRA ‘360’ Sprint Invaders and the BOSS non-wing sprint cars, each conducting a full program including preliminary competition and main events. The Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will battle for a $5,000 top prize, as well as full points, during the annual Sprintacular; the fourth and final Eldora Speedway appearance for the Arctic Cat All Stars in 2016.

Brady Bacon Prepared For Run At All Four Crowns and $100,000 Bonus
Legendary Jack Hewitt Weighs In On Attempts By Bacon And Tyler Courtney

By Greg Billing
ROSSBURG, Ohio (September 23, 2016) – Oklahoma has produced its share of auto racing talent, especially in Tulsa and its suburbs.

Names like Lance Blevins, Andy Hillenberg, Daryn Pittman, Stevie Smith and Shane Stewart all hail from northwestern Oklahoma. As does Brady Bacon. But none have tried what Bacon attempts Saturday at Eldora Speedway – sweeping the USAC 4-Crown Nationals.

Only one driver has ever won all four features in the same night on Eldora's historic high-banked, half-mile clay oval. Bacon, who grew up in Broken Arrow and now lives in Winchester, Ind., figures if it's going to happen again why not “Sooner” than later.

The 35th annual 4-Crown Nationals Weekend kicks off tonight (Friday, September 23) with the “BeFour The Crowns Showdown” featuring the winged World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars and Eldora Stocks.  Saturday's show features three USAC divisions with the national Silver Crown, Sprint Cars and Midget tours along with the wing sprint cars of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions joining the slate for the first-time.

The 26-year-old Bacon plans to compete with the Outlaws on Friday and run all four divisions Saturday. Indiana's Tyler Courtney also plans to run all four divisions Saturday in pursuit of additional 4-Crown cash. Any driver that sweeps all four divisions earns the extra $100,000 bonus posted by track owner Tony Stewart. Winning three of the four nets $25,000.  USAC veterans Dave Darland and Jerry Coons, Jr. have registered to run all three USAC divisions.

And Bacon thinks he has the cars to do it.

He'll drive Paul Martens-owned No. 48 Silver Crown car, the No. 69 Hoffman Auto Racing/Dynamics AMSOIL sprint car, the No. 76m Frank Manafort Racing midget and his own No. 99 winged sprint in with the ASCoC. Bacon will also drive the No. 99 with the Outlaws tonight (Friday, September 23).

“I'm excited about the Outlaws race. I think my engine program with my personal cars is a lot better than what I've been at Eldora in the past,” Bacon said. “That's extremely important at Eldora. Friday night we're looking to get the weekend going in a positive direction.

“Saturday is a little more stressful than it has been in the past because one of the cars is my own. I'm kind of the head of that so I'll spend a little more time trying to make sure that's right. Fortunately I have three other really, really good cars. Everything I have is capable of winning. We have a really good shot of winning every class. This is the first time I've been in that position, having a car in every class capable of winning.”

Running with the World of Outlaws tonight could help Bacon's bid for the 4-Crown sweep Saturday. The winged and non-wing sprints carry more speed, especially at Eldora, so when he climbs into a midget or Silver Crown car Bacon said it feels like the action slows down.

Ohio's Jack Hewitt is the only driver to sweep all four divisions, stunning the racing world in 1998 by winning all three USAC features and a modified feature. Hewitt, from nearby Troy, holds the record for most 4-Crown victories with 19.

Bacon enters with one. He won the sprint feature in 2014. If he adds another Saturday odds are good it'll be in the sprints again – Bacon holds a dominating 219-point lead in the national standings. “We've always been fast in the No. 69 at Eldora,” he said.

He's also third in the midget standings (66 points behind the leader) and 12th in Silver Crown.

“Our Silver Crown car has been super fast all year,” Bacon said. “The midget we've been working really hard. Our engine program has been a little behind like Keith Kunz's Toyota-power. We've been getting closer and closer and they've made some changes to the motor. This will be the first race since we've made some pretty major changes and I think we've made some ground up. I'm looking forward to that…I'm thankful for all the car owners who have invested in me and given me the opportunity to go for this bonus this weekend. I'm really excited.”

And hopefully well rested. The physical requirements of racing four divisions in one day don't match the mental demands. All three USAC cars will be crewed by different teams so that will help Bacon focus on wrenching his own winged sprint. But it's the little things that make for a busy night of action in the pits. There's making sure his helmets are ready including the tear-offs. All the radios need to be on the correct channels. And if all four haulers can't park next to each other in Eldora's pits – they'll attempt to all drive in together – then logistics and communication becomes a bigger issue.

Bacon has run three divisions at the 4-Crown the past two years so has an idea of what to expect.

“It doesn't start getting real busy until Saturday then it all happens at once,” Bacon said. “Then before you know it it's over. And hopefully we've won a few at that point.”

Hewitt is the only driver to win all four features. NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Larson joined Hewitt in 2011 as the only drivers to win all three USAC features.

“You know Brady is capable of winning, but you have to have all the stars align,” Hewitt said. “A flat tire, touching the wall hard, somebody spinning out in front of you. That's the part that's amazing for all that to line up in one evening. It's actually beyond belief.  The only thing we did wrong was we didn't play the lottery. It was that kind of night.”

Bacon said he won't seek out Hewitt for advice on handling the grind of racing four divisions in one night or dealing with the increasing pressure should he click off one, then two and maybe three feature wins.

“What he did is pretty legendary. He's Jack Hewitt. You can't tell someone how to be Jack Hewitt. You have to figure it out,” Bacon said.

Even though Bacon won't get together with Hewitt before the race, he sure wouldn't mind a meeting after to celebrate a 4-Crown sweep together.

“I'll gladly stand beside him if he wins all four,” said Hewitt, adding he'll do so at Bacon's request so Bacon can celebrate history in the spotlight alone should it happen. “You gotta have a lot of luck to win it. Records are meant to be broken or tied. Yeah, put as many (drivers) there as they want. I have room for others to stand up there with me, that's for sure.

“You gotta stay positive. You can't get discouraged. Even if he ends up winning three that's still a pretty amazing feat. The thing about it is he's got nothing to lose and everything to gain. If he wins one he's on a pretty elite list. If he wins two, the list got a lot shorter. Three and it's him and Kyle Larson. If he wins four it's him and I.  He's got a little more pressure than me with $100,000. I guarantee if he wins the third one, on the fourth one they better watch out cause he's coming. It's katy bar the door then.”

Tickets for the 35th Four Crown Nationals Weekend events start at just $25 for Friday’s World of Outlaws “BeFour The Crown Showdown” event.  Tickets to Saturday’s Four Crown Nationals start at just $30. Two drivers have each thrown their hat into the ring and will put themselves to the mental and physical test involved with running all four legs of this Saturday’s 35th running of the “4-Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Brady Bacon and Indianapolis, Indiana’s Tyler Courtney have both secured rides in the USAC Silver Crown, USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car, USAC National Midget and Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions for Saturday’s spectacular.

Bacon will be behind the wheel of four machines that he is quite familiar with: the Paul Martens No. 48 Silver Crown car, the Hoffman Auto Racing/Dynamics No. 69 AMSOIL Sprint Car, the FMR Racing No. 76m Midget and his own No. 99 Wing Sprint Car in the All Star portion of the program.

In addition to his duties piloting the four machines on Saturday, Bacon is involved in two different USAC National points races.  He has a commanding 219-point lead in the AMSOIL National Sprint Car standings and also sits third in National Midget points, just 66 markers out of the lead.

Courtney, on the other hand, has dabbled in several different series this season with the TOPP Motorsports No. 23c sprint car that he will wheel in both the USAC Sprint and All Star divisions.  But this Saturday night, he will make his return to the Silver Crown and National Midget series with his debut in the RPM/Fred Gormly No. 99 champ car and the Kenny Irwin, Sr. No. 7K – a car in which made a handful of starts in during the 2015 season.

Bacon, who owns a victory in the USAC Sprint Car feature at the “4-Crown” in 2014, has run three classes in one night during the two previous years of the “4-Crown,” but 2016 will mark the first time he will do quadruple duty in one night, which he notes is actually more mentally taxing than it is physical.

“Mental fatigue and trying to think about all of the different cars and circumstances you are in is the most tiring part,” Bacon said.  “Physical fatigue isn’t as big of an issue at Eldora as the mental aspect.”

Courtney, who will attempt “the quadruple” for the first time on Saturday, anticipates that he won’t have a problem with fatigue because, after all, it’s Eldora Speedway.

“I've never done all four classes before, so I'm not sure if the fatigue is going to play a factor,” Courtney wondered.  “If I had to guess, though, your adrenaline is going to be pumping all night.  It’s Eldora!  If that place doesn't pump your adrenaline, then I don't know what will.”

All four cars running Saturday night are similar, yet have their own unique characteristics.  Courtney notes that the advice he’s received from friend and current NASCAR star Kyle Larson tells him that more track time you get, the more it helps you throughout the night.

“From talking to Kyle Larson a few times, he says the more cars you run there, it doesn't necessarily get easier throughout the night, but it does help you the more laps you run just figuring out the track and how to get around it.”

Bacon, on the other hand, says that things begin to slow down for you after stepping foot in a sprint car at “The Big E.”

“Running the wing and non-wing sprint car helps a lot with the other classes and slows things down for you because the sprint cars are so much faster at Eldora than the other divisions,” Bacon explained.

Bacon, the 2014 USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National champion, relishes the opportunity to be in such good equipment night-in, night-out that has propelled him to become the only driver to occupy a spot in the top-12 in all three USAC National standings.

“I am extremely excited about having great car owners and equipment to have a legitimate shot at every division,” Bacon beamed.  “I think the hardest part is having cars capable of winning in every class.  It would be a huge accomplishment to put my name on the same list as Jack Hewitt winning all four or even Kyle Larson by winning three.”

Courtney has been an outlaw racer this year behind the wheel of a sprint car, running non-wing and wing races whenever and wherever he can without a single thought of points racing running through his mind.

“I think it does give me a slight advantage racing a little bit of everything this year,” Courtney believes.  “Seat time in anything is always beneficial; I think the best example of that was Bryan Clauson.  Bryan was always one of the best, but this year, he got to race over 100 times and really got to fine tune his craft and it truly showed.  He kicked our butts even worse than before!  I believe racing a little bit of everything this year has helped me get prepared for this weekend and I think myself and the teams I'm running for are ready to go.”

Courtney explains that you can’t tiptoe around Eldora and be fast.  Who’s willing to put their right rear right up against the wall and stand on the gas will determine if you’re going to be running at the front or the back when the checkered flag falls on the night.

“Throughout the night, the biggest difference you notice is just the speed difference between all the cars,” Courtney noted.  “At the end of the day, it’s Eldora and, if you aren't up on the fence in every car that you’re in, you're not going to be fast!  You're basically doing the same thing in every car, just at different speeds.”

With the return of “4-Crowns” to a single night for the first time since 2007, along comes a bonus that carries a large sum of money if Bacon or Courtney are able to persevere and match Jack Hewitt’s four wins or Kyle Larson’s three victories.

Scoring four wins in each of the four features Saturday night will net a driver a $100,000 bonus.  A driver who grabs three out of four checkered flags will still receive a nice $25,000 bonus to go along with their winnings.

Believe it or not, in 15 of the 34 editions of the “4-Crown,” one driver has won multiple features.  Only two drivers have won multiple features in a single night more than once.  Dave Darland did it in 1999 and 2004 while the incomparable Jack Hewitt accomplished the feat on four occasions (1991, 1996, 1997 and the unforgettable night in 1998 when he became the first and only driver to sweep all four divisions.)

Kyle Larson was the last to sweep all three USAC divisions in one night during his first ever visit to the Eldora high banks back in 2011.

Other drivers to have won at least two of the four crowns in a single night include Steve Kinser (1981), Larry Rice (1985), Rich Vogler (1986), Tony Stewart (1995), J.J. Yeley (2001), Dave Darland (2004), Tracy Hines (2006), Chris Windom (2013) and Christopher Bell (2015).

Spectator gates for Saturday’s “4-Crown Nationals” open at noon, while hot laps are set to begin at 4:30pm with qualifications and racing to immediately follow.

2015-Arctic-Cat-All-Star-Circuit-of-Champions-LogoINDIANAPOLIS, IN. (September 20, 2016) – For the first time since 2007, the World’s Greatest Dirt Track will host four divisions during the Saturday night portion of the Four Crown Nationals program, adding more hype to a prestigious weekend of competition that will feature the best of the best with the wings, and without.

After the BeFour The Crowns Showdown on Friday night, September 23, featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, the stars and cars of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will have their turn at taming the highbanks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio; joining all three national divisions, Midget, Sprint Car and Champ Car, of the United States Auto Club (USAC) for the Four Crown Nationals on Saturday, September 24. The Arctic Cat All Stars will battle for $5,000 during their visit to The Big E, also earning full points toward the 2016 championship.

As an added bonus, if a competitor can sweep the entire Four Crown Nationals program on Saturday, September 24, a mega-bonus of $100,000 will be awarded. If a competitor can earn three out of four victories on Saturday, a $25,000 bonus will be awarded.

Including the show-up points appearance in mid-July for the Kings Royal weekend, the Four Crown Nationals will act as the third of four Arctic Cat All Star visits to Eldora Speedway in 2016. “America’s Series” made their first visit to Eldora Speedway on June 25 for the Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket finale. The “Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild claimed the right to stand on the coveted victory lane stage, earning $10,000 for his efforts. Defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz was the $50,000 Kings Royal winner on July 16.

With only three point events remaining on the 2016 championship schedule, the Four Crown Nationals will highlight as a very important step in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase. Less than 30 markers separate the top-two championship contenders entering their visit to Rossburg, Ohio, with defending series champion Dale Blaney on top of the current series standings.

Dubbed the “Low Rider,” Dale Blaney, who owns seven victories on the season, as well as a series leading 23 top-five finishes, holds a 22-point cushion over Alvada, Ohio’s Chad Kemenah entering Four Crown Nationals weekend. Kemenah, also a former series champion, owns one victory on the season, as well as 22 top-five finishes. Blaney owns victories at Attica Raceway Park (OH), Port Royal Speedway (PA), Butler Speedway (MI), Millstream Speedway (OH), Eriez Speedway (PA), and Grandview Speedway (PA), with Kemenah owning one victory at the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania.

Despite the competitive battle at the top of the championship standings, Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild is also in a mathematical position to contend for the title; currently third in the title chase and only 56 points behind Dale Blaney. Haudenschild has earned eight victories thus far in 2016, which leads all Arctic Cat All Star competitors, as well as 17 top-five finishes.

Cap Henry and “Downtown” Danny Holtgraver, earning a combined total of 22 top-five feature finishes and three victories, each acquired by Holtgraver, currently round out the top-five in the championship standings.

Four Crown Nationals festivities will officially begin with spectator gates opening at 12-noon on Saturday, September 24. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm, followed by racing at 8. Those seeking additional information regarding the Four Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway should visit the event page live on the Web at:http://www.eldoraspeedway.com/event/35th-annual-four-crown-nationals/

Saturday night’s 35th “4-Crown Nationals” brings all three of USAC’s National divisions to Rossburg, Ohio’s half-mile Eldora Speedway for one night and, as usual, the one thing that is predictable in the AMSOIL National Sprint Car portion of the program is unpredictability.

There have been nine different feature winners in the last nine “4-Crown” Sprint Car races and no repeat winner since Bud Kaeding in 2001 and 2002.

San Jose, California’s Thomas Meseraull earned his first career USAC National victory in last year’s event and joins Brady Bacon (2014), Chris Windom (2013), Jerry Coons Jr. (2009) and Dave Darland (1999) as series regulars who are expected to compete this Saturday night.

Current drivers in the top-ten in the AMSOIL National Sprint points who are looking for their first “4-Crown” triumph include Chase Stockon (third), C.J. Leary (seventh) and Aaron Farney (tenth). Hanford, California’s Chad Boespflug (sixth) won at Eldora in May, but seeks his first career “4-Crown” win this Saturday.

Bacon, of Broken Arrow, Okla., is firmly locked into the lead in the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship standings by a whopping 219 points over the injured Robert Ballou – a 2007 “4-Crown” Sprint winner.

Chase Stockon is poised to take over the number two position in the standings, trailing Ballou by just two points after last Saturday’s race at Haubstadt, Ind. won by Kyle Cummins. Ballou continues to recuperate from injuries suffered in a crash at Calistoga, Calif. earlier this month.

Cummins, of Princeton, Ind., led the final 21 laps of last Saturday’s “Haubstadt Hustler” co-sanctioned by MSCS after passing Tyler Courtney on lap 20 in his Rock Steady Racing/ProGlide Bearings – Tim Mason ReMax/Mach-1/Cummins. Tyler Courtney took second ahead of Shane Cottle, Kevin Thomas Jr. and Stockon.

Tyler Hewitt was Saturday’s ProSource fast qualifier while Jon Stanbrough came from 22nd to 10th to claim the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award.

Last Friday night’s “Jim Hurtubise Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track was rained out and has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 15.

Spectator Gates open at noon, while hot laps are set to begin at 4:30pm with qualifications and racing to immediately follow.

Saturday night’s card at Eldora also features the USAC Silver Crown Championship, the USAC Midget National Championship and the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

A four-man race atop the USAC Midget National Championship standings makes its next stop to Rossburg, Ohio’s Eldora Speedway Saturday night, September 24 for the 35th running of the “4-Crown Nationals.”

Spencer Bayston leads a fast bunch that includes Chad Boat, Brady Bacon and Tanner Thorson who are all separated by just 71 points coming into Saturday night’s 25-lap event.

Bayston enters the race with a 56-point advantage over Chad Boat, while Brady Bacon is just 66 back of the leader in third and Tanner Thorson is 71 behind in fourth. A maximum of 84 points are available for a driver to earn at Eldora.

Bayston’s five podium finishes so far include a victory at Gas City in June. Boat, winner of the recent “Belleville Midget Nationals” in Kansas, has three wins in his last five starts. Bacon has 11 top-10 finishes in 13 series starts this year, but is still seeking his first 2016 win. Thorson has a trio of wins this year and a pair of seconds.

Veterans Dave Darland and Jerry Coons, Jr. are past “4-Crown” Midget feature winners expected to enter Saturday night’s event. Lincoln, Indiana’s Darland is a two-time victor in 1999 and 2004 while Coons, of Tucson, Ariz., drove to victory lane in 2010.

The race is round five of seven in the Jonathan Byrd’s Indy Challenge. Rico Abreu won round one at Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway in June while Boat won twice at the Belleville (Kans.) High Banks in August. Michael Faccinto won Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway’s “Louie Vermiel Classic” earlier this month during round four.

The only driver eligible to win one of the prizes offered in the challenge is Phoenix, Arizona’s Boat. If he wins Saturday’s “4-Crown” Midget feature, the final night at the “Gold Crown Nationals” in Granite City, Ill. on Oct. 8 and the 76th running of the “Turkey Night Grand Prix” at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway on Nov. 24, he will earn an Indy Lights ride in the 2017 “Freedom 100” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Spectator gates open at noon Saturday, while hot laps are set to begin at 4:30pm with qualifications and racing to immediately follow.

Saturday night’s card at Eldora also features the USAC Silver Crown Championship, the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

"Shane was not only a passionate racer but also our neighbor and friend.  His father, Mike, has been Eldora's track welder at events for 36 years.  His mother, Jann, works in our pit area concessions.  His brother, Shad, was his car owner and crew chief,” said Roger Slack, General Manager of Eldora Speedway.  “Shane and the love of his life, Michelle Heindl, are the parents of two beautiful children, Lexi (3 years old) and Owen (5 months old) and his favorite hobby was working on his racecar with them.  The Unger family are the kind of people that makeup the heart and soul of short-track racing. It's a tremendous loss for the entire Eldora family."

Envelopes for donations direct to the family will also be available at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio, at the visitation tonight (Wednesday, September 14) from 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and again at the service tomorrow (Thursday, September 15) at 10:30 a.m.
