Juventus are looking to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea next summer on a free transfer.

De Gea is out of contract next summer, and he could be leaving Manchester United on a free transfer.

Erik ten Hag may look to replace the Spanish goalkeeper, with the Dutchman preferring players more comfortable with the ball at their feet.

De Gea is one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe, but his lack of ability with the ball means it’s difficult for Ten Hag to implement his style on Manchester United.

According to Calcio Mercato, Juventus could look to sign De Gea next summer. The Italian club haven’t been afraid to deal with Manchester United in the past, most recently signing Paul Pogba, also a free transfer.

In an ideal world, Manchester United would be able to receive a transfer fee for De Gea, but with him out of contract next summer, it’s looking increasingly likely that he will leave the club for free at the end of the season.

De Gea has been excellent for United for many years, but with football evolving into a game where goalkeepers are required to be elite with their feet, he’s beginning to struggle.

Worrying stat for defending champions France heading into World Cup

26/09/2022, England, Multi Sports, English Sports Publications, Article # 30863741

France were defeated again tonight as Denmark emerged 2-0 winners over the defending World Cup champions.

With the World Cup under two months away the build-up to the defence of their crown has not been going to plan both on and off the pitch.

Off the field, there is the drama surrounding Paul Pogba and his family, whilst Kylian Mbappe can’t seem to keep out of the news at present.

On the pitch, the results have been very worrying and Didier Deschamps’ side have equalled a record with tonight’s defeat.

France’s defeat to Denmark was their third in competitive games in 2022 (3 times in the UEFA Nations League), which is already their worst tally in a calendar year (tied with 1966, 1981, 2008 and 2010).

This is very worrying form from the defending champions heading into the World Cup in Qatar, where France meet Denmark again, along with Australia and Tunisia in the group stage.

Luckily for France, most of the other major European teams do not look particularly good at present either, apart from the Netherlands.

This all, however, plays into the hands of tournament favourites Brazil and Argentine who will be looking to take football’s biggest prize back to South America for the first time since 2002.

World Cup nation set to ask clubs to rest players – Manchester United and Tottenham affected

World Cup nation set to ask clubs to rest players – Manchester United and Tottenham affected

26/09/2022, England, Multi Sports, English Sports Publications, Article # 30863742

Argentina are reportedly going to ask clubs to rest their players in the week before the World Cup, with Manchester United and Tottenham to be affected.

That’s according to Doble Amarilla, via the Daily Mail, who claim that Argentina will ask for all of their players to not be involved at club level the week before the first game of the World Cup takes place.

A large percentage of Argentina’s players play outside of the Premier League, but there are some clubs in England who shall be affected by their request.

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez and Tottenham defender Cristian Romero are both likely to be called up to the squad heading to the World Cup.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will also be hoping to make the squad in November.

All the aforementioned players have played important roles for their respective sides so far this season, so it will be interesting to see the reaction of the clubs.

If Argentina officially requests for their players to be rested, other nations may follow suit.

The Netherlands were in UEFA Nations League action tonight and emerged victorious against Belgium thanks to a Virgil van Dijk goal.

The 1-0 win secured the top spot for the Dutch in Group A4 who will now go through to the next round of the competition, which will be played next June.

The only goal of the game came from a corner, where a Cody Gakpo cross was met by Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk who headed home with relative ease after some poor defending.
