Talks held: Chelsea & Newcastle contact Bundesliga star’s agent over potential transfer

Chelsea and Newcastle United are reportedly pursuing a potential summer transfer window swoop for Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae.

The South Korea international has not quite been at his best since joining Bayern, despite previously impressing a great deal in spells at Napoli and Fenerbahce.

It seems Kim’s future is now in some doubt ahead of the summer, with Chelsea and Newcastle both making contact with his agent about the possibility of a move, according to Foot Mercato.

Kim could surely be a useful signing for a top Premier League club, and the report suggests he’s open to a move to England.

It remains to be seen, however, if Bayern will be ready to sell the 28-year-old, and if so, for how much.

It’s been a poor second half of the season for Chelsea, and manager Enzo Maresca will surely be keen to strengthen his defence.

The Italian tactician has had Wesley Fofana out injured for much of the season, and the Frenchman’s fitness record will surely be a worry for everyone at the club.

Meanwhile, the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah haven’t been too convincing.

It’s easy to see Kim being an upgrade on those players, so this could end up being a smart move by the Blues if it comes to anything.

Newcastle, meanwhile, could be another tempting destination for Kim if he’s looking to get away from Bayern.

The Magpies look like they’re really going places, having won the Carabao Cup final this season whilst continuing to challenge for Champions League qualification.

It will be interesting to see how this saga develops and if any other Premier League clubs end up joining the race for Kim’s signature in the weeks and months ahead.

Reliable journalist says Arsenal transfer target has made major U-turn on his future

Reliable journalist says Arsenal transfer target has made major U-turn on his future

Arsenal may have been dealt some worrying transfer news today as it’s now being reported that Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi favours a move to Real Madrid.

The Gunners have long looked the favourites to sign the Spain international, but it may be that he’s now changed his mind about his future.

Although the Athletic reported just this week that Real Madrid sources see Zubimendi joining Arsenal this summer, there’s now been another update.

According to reliable journalist Santi Aouna, posting on his official account on X, Zubimendi would now rather move to the Bernabeu after the club personally explained their plans for him to him…

Zubimendi has shone during his time in La Liga and it’s easy to see him being a success for a variety of big clubs around Europe.

Arsenal would surely be a good fit for him, but he could also have a key role injecting a bit more quality on the ball into this Madrid midfield.

Do Real Madrid need Martin Zubimendi more than Arsenal?

After being knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal this week, Real may well feel they need Zubimendi to come in and give them something new in midfield.

Mikel Arteta’s side are already really strong in that department, with Declan Rice and Thomas Partey running the show in both legs of that Champions League quarter-final tie.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men, by contrast, looked like they lacked something there, with Zubimendi perhaps ideal to finally give Los Blancos a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos.

Kroos retired at the end of last season, and Madrid no longer really have someone with his range of passing from midfield.

Zubimendi could give them that, but Arsenal will also surely want the 26-year-old as an ideal long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Jorginho, who will be a free agent this summer.

“If everything goes well…” – Big boost as Arteta hints Arsenal star is likely to be fit in t

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that Riccardo Calafiori is looking likely to be back in time for the Champions League semi-final tie vs Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners enjoyed a memorable win over Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, triumphing 5-1 on aggregate against the reigning European champions.

PSG are up next for Arsenal and could be a tougher test as they’re in superb form at the moment, so it would be useful to have a key player like Calafiori back.

The Italy international is a versatile defender who can give Arteta options at centre-back or left-back, so he could still have an important role to play this season.

Discussing his comeback from injury, Arteta had this to say, as per journalist Simon Collings…

“If everything goes well, I think so – maybe a little bit earlier. Let’s see,” Arteta said when asked about Calafiori being back for PSG.

“He is on the pitch already. He is doing quite a lot of stuff and we just need to make the right steps now to make sure when he is back, he is in a good place to perform.”

Can Arsenal go all the way in the Champions League?

It’s been a difficult and frustrating season for Arsenal in the Premier League, with injuries majorly disrupting their progress.

Liverpool, by contrast, have not really had to make do without any of their most important players for a particularly lengthy period at any point, apart from Trent Alexander-Arnold recently.

Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhaes out, while Bukayo Saka missed a large chunk of the campaign, and others like Calafiori and Ben White have also spent plenty of time on the sidelines.

If Arsenal’s luck can start to turn towards the end of the campaign, then they could have it in them to finally win the Champions League.

The north London giants were superb in both legs against Real Madrid, even with midfielder Mikel Merino being shoe-horned into playing up front, and with Jakub Kiwior filling in for Gabriel in defence.

AFC will hope not to lose anyone else in the weeks ahead, and Calafiori’s return could certainly be useful for a tough opponent like PSG.
