Southampton have reportedly set a £55 million price tag on Tyler Dibling as the Premier League strugglers look to put off interested clubs.
The Saints bottom of the league table after a woeful season so far – but one of their bright sparks has come by the way of the teenager.
Newcastle are thought to be keen on the attacker, but now Sky Sports report that Chelsea are also at the table too.
Journalist Lyall Thomas reported on Wednesday evening: “Southampton would not entertain offers of any less than £55m at least for Tyler Dibling this month; as #AstonVilla, #Chelsea and #Tottenham all continue to monitor the 18yo’s progress at #SaintsFC.”
It’s been a breakout season for Dibling. He has started making a name for himself at Southampton after a brief stint at Chelsea in 2022, where he made just two appearances for their academy.
He was offered approximately £3,000 per week to remain at St. Mary’s, but Chelsea’s higher offer lured him away.
However, the Exeter-born attacker – who is also liked by Manchester United – struggled to fit in at the West London club and following just a handful of appearances for the Blues’ youth side, talks were in place to bring him back to Southampton once more.
According to The Athletic last month, some senior figures at Saints initially expressed concerns. The club were worried about the message it might send to other academy players if the club welcomed back someone who left and then chose to return.
But Matt Hale, Southampton’s academy director at the time, wanted the best players at the club so pushed them to offer him a contract on much-reduced wages – and he signed it.
Tyler Dibling transfer: Why did the 18-year-old sensation leave Southampton?
Dave Horseman, an academy coach at the club at the time of Dibling’s return, praised the teenager’s attitude. He said: “When I knew he was coming back, I sat all the U21s and U18s down and explained what was happening.
“When he came back from Chelsea, he went to the U18s. He had to earn the right to come back. He never moaned, at least not to us, and looking back, when you put the pieces together, he showed he is a strong character.
“He had to suck it up and go again, and I am sure Tyler felt awkward as anything when he came back.”

Newcastle United is in the mix for Luiz Henrique, a 24-year-old star playing for Botafogo.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say that though Fiorentina are leading the race to sign him, and that Newcastle face competition from Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Zenit, and even Lyon, despite their financial struggles.
Henrique joined Botafogo last year for €16m after a stint in La Liga with Real Betis. Standing at 6 feet tall, he’s earned six caps for the Brazil national side, and can play on either wing or even up front.
Eddie Howe is looking for a quality upgrade on Miguel Almiron, who has been linked with a move back to America. Other names who could replace the Magpies attacker include Tyler Dibling and Bryan Mbeumo, but they are thought to be too expensive at present.
With just two weeks left in the January transfer window, Newcastle have a narrow time to get some business done.
Where does Martin Dubravka’s future lie?
One man who is set to leave Newcastle is Martin Dubravka. The goalkeeper has reportedly decided to remain at St James’ Park beyond the end of the season.
He had been expected to join Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab this month and after Newcastle’s impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Dubravka seemed to wave goodbye to the fans. However, things took a turn after the match, as head coach Eddie Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell held talks that led to renewed discussions about the goalkeeper’s future, reports the Daily Mail.
Dubravka has been instrumental in stepping up during Nick Pope’s injury absence, starting the last 10 games, securing nine wins, keeping six clean sheets, and conceding just seven goals.
Although the 36-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of the season, a new contract with improved terms is now on the table, it is thought.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are not willing to sell Matheus Cunha this winter window despite extensive interest from clubs, according to reports.
The Midlands outfit are unfazed by the myriad of interest in the Brazilian and are not prepared to listen to offers for their star player.
That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan who wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Despite interest by Nottingham Forest and Arsenal – I understand Matheus Cunha is NOT for sale and not expected to leave Wolves in January. New contract was about rewarding his recent form – no impact on his immediate future & Wolves relaxed about the situation.”
The 25-year-old Brazilian has been in great form for Wolves since joining. He netted 14 goals last season – including a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. This term the attacker has notched up 10 goals and 4 assists in 21 Premier League appearances. taking his tally for Wolves to 25 goals and 12 assists.
This has led to reported interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, and the Blues.
Matheus Cunha’s price tag revealed
Ben Jacobs shared an update on Cunha’s situation. The reporter did state that Arsenal are in contact with the player’s agents over a possible move.
He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Matheus Cunha is yet to sign his new Wolves contract despite verbally agreeing new financial terms. Parties still discussing a release clause, and potentially two different numbers based on Wolves staying up and/or going down.
“Cunha has been offered an important pay rise, and even with a new long-term deal, Wolves would be understanding of Cunha’s desire to leave for the right opportunity in future windows.
“Arsenal are currently in contact with Cunha’s camp, but talks only informal at this stage. Wolves still don’t wish to sell in January and that position will only change with a crazy offer, likely in excess of £80m.
“Wolves planning with Cunha for the second half of the season, but Arsenal do remain alert to the opportunity.”

Manchester United made a last-minute attempt to sign Julio Enciso from Brighton and Hove Albion with the view of potentially stealing him from Ipswich Town.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report that United made a last-minute attempt for him as a replacement for Alejandro Garnacho, who could be making the move to Napoli.
The outlet has stated that Atalanta had been in the mix for Enciso, too. Brighton are willing to let leave the youngster leave on loan this month, but now he’s seemingly heading to Suffolk.
But United, as well Valencia and Borussia Dortmund were also in the mix, but missed out to the relegation strugglers.
Brighton preferred to keep him in the Premier League as it will result in him becoming a homegrown player next year after arriving in 2022. It’s reported that Ipswich head coach Kieran McKenna has also convinced the midfielder of the move on the phone – and that has appeared to have swung the deal in the club’s favour.
Manchester United make Julio Enciso approach – the details
Journalist Christian Martin ratified the claims, providing details on the matter in a conversation with Paraguay’s Versus as picked up by SportsWitness.
“What I can tell you is that at the last minute of yesterday’s day, a call from Manchester United arrived,” he said.
“Manchester United wanted Julio to be potentially the replacement in case Garnacho goes to Napoli or another club, there are several interested, Garnacho has had a problem with Amorim.
“The situation is not the same in the club that he grew up, Garnacho has been playing for many years as a youth player and immediately came the call from the United board to attempt Julio.
“The answer of the Paraguayan, thank you but no thank you, I want to play. Julio turns 21 tomorrow, we are already talking about a Paraguayan boy on the other side of the world in the most competitive league that is fighting for his future and really say no to Borussia Dortmund, say no to Manchester United, say no to Valencia, prioritise that, playing, he wants to play from the start.”
