Austral Legend's Race set to light up Hisense Arena
 
We're delighted to announce that a Legend's Race will take place on the Austral Program at Hisense Arena on Saturday December 16, 2017.

Track cycling royalty will take to the boards - Danny Clark, Brad McGee, Shane Kelly, Scott McGrory, Laurie Venn and Troy Clarke.

The group has won Olympic, World, Commonwealth, Australian and Austral titles aplenty - and they are set to put on a show for the Hisense crowd and to bring back more than a few memories.

There's also sure to be more than a little friendly rivalry between riders, as evidenced by some of the 'secret training' sessions which have been taking place across Australia in recent months.

Shane Kelly is excited to be returning to the track, and catching up with the other riders taking part.

"I've got great memories of racing on the Hisense track, and with the likes of Brad and Danny. Danny was a childhood idol of mine. And I was a mentor for Brad in his younger days. It should be great fun. I'm looking forward to it. And yes, I've certainly done a bit more training recently to get ready for it!"

An overview of each riders' achievements is listed below.

Danny Clark  
3-time Austral champion (1977, 1986 & 1990).
5-time track world champion.
More than 50 Six-Day victories including 7 wins at the Gent Six-Day.
Olympic Silver Medallist.

Brad McGee
First Australian to wear the leader's jersey of all three Grand Tours.
Olympic Gold Medallist (Team Pursuit) as well as 4 other Olympic Medals.
2-time track world champion.
5-time Commonwealth Games Gold medallist.

Shane Kelly
4-time track world champion (13 world championship medals in total).
3 Olympic Medals.

Scott McGrory
Olympic Gold Medallist (Sydney 2000 Madison).
1994 Australian Road Race Champion.

Laurie Venn
Two-time Austral Champion (1979 and 1981).
1985 Australian Road Race Champion.

Troy Clarke
1996 Austral Champion.
 

An outstanding program of track cycling will also feature the 120th Austral Wheelrace finals, Australian Madison Championships, and UCI Category 1 Sprint and Keirin Competitions.
