World Class Pedigree

With a pedigree stretching back over 29 years Super One has been the nursery of so many top line prodessional motor racing drivers, too many to list but including David Coulthard, Jason Plato, Dario Franchitti, Daniel Wheldon, Anthony Davidson and of course the dream team of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton as well as team personnel at the highest level. Super One is the official British and ABkC National Championship and holds the seeded Numbers for the classes.

SUPER ONE ENTERED IT’S 30th YEAR OF OPERATION IN 2012

The longest standing national motor racing championship, administrated by the same team, Super One was founded back in 1983. Highlights from the first Super One round held at Snetterton included Andrew Clark taking the inaugural 100 Senior Britain spoils whilst Paul Fletcher took a 100 National front row position, but lost the win when he came off at the first corner.  Daughter Nicky Fletcher came third.  Jeremy Cottrell won the Junior International class whilst Touring Car ace Jason Plato was fifth.

In 1983 the series catered for four classes, two junior and two senior. Today, Super One boasts in excess of 400 competitors, racing across 20 rounds throughout the UK. It will cater for six junior classes, including the prestigious MSA British Junior Kart Championships (KF3), and six senior classes, including the MSA British Kart Championship (Super KF), the pinnacle of UK karting.  The series has hosted the two MSA British championships and the ABkC national championships continuously since 1990. 

 Competitive Arena

It is a very competitive championship that continually produces world class drivers. Providing facilities that are to International CIK level Super One provides a level of competition not found at club meetings or championships running alongside club meetings.

Professionally Run

Super One is the Premier Karting Championship, run by professionals who ensure quality racing on a level playing field. Super One were the first Championship series to introduce Unilog clutch checking in Rotax which sorted all the contentious issues in this area. Onboard video cameras were added in 2010 to try and reduce the amount of unfair incidents and to ensure a fair outcome.

International Recognition

Super One is always looking at ways to raise the profile of the drivers taking part in the series and TV coverage will continue to play a big part. When the Motors TV championship ran a couple of years ago several drivers were approached by companies who had seen them on the little screen and sponsorships were offered. One example was Joe Boullen who received a £5000 sponsorship deal and went on to race in Euromax where he was immediately recognised by the other drivers because they’d seen him on Motors TV.
