Kaiden "The Kid"  Manders wins the Series ! :

Hi All, Please find below the release for last night's finale of the Sheehan Haulage Speedcar Grand Prix Series at the Perth Motorplex Speedway !!!

Thanks, Scott 'The Scribe' Beattie <WASDA Promotions.

"The Great" Dayne wins the Battle, Kaiden "The Kid" Wins the War

Although it was Dayne Kingshott who recorded the win last night at the Perth Motorplex Speedway, it was second year driver Kaiden Manders who also walked away with his head held high, winning the inaugural Sheehan Haulage Speedcar Grand Prix Series.

Taking nothing away from Kingshott: he drove spectacularly all night, as has so often been the case this season, but all eyes were on Kaiden Manders, Todd Waddell and Alfonso Guadagnino as the trio battled it out for overall series honours, with the points race coming down to the wire.

The night began with qualifying: Dayne Kingshott topping the charts with a 16.457, 0.065 quicker than second fastest Lee Redmond, while Kaiden Manders was back in third and Alfonso Guadagnino was fourth. This made the points battle close immediately, with Guadagnino closing the gap on Waddell after he was only able to manage fourteenth fastest.

Heat One saw Waddell leading early as a few cars came together and survived some hairy moments in turn two before all continued on. South Australian visitor Angelo Karoussis let off some smoke and suddenly the motor blew, forcing him infield, while Neville Lance worked his way into the lead on lap four. Behind Lance though, Kingshott was beginning to make his presence felt as he fought through the field, closely followed by Lee Redmond. On lap six Kingshott was on Lance’s tail and on lap seven he had slipped by for the lead, racing away in the remainder of the race to claim the win from Lance and Waddell.

On his return to the pits it was discovered that in a freak occurrence, part of the motor that blew off the Karoussis’ machine had landed inside the seat of Dayne Kingshott’s car, making it a very hot and uncomfortable ride for the duration of the heat for Dayne!

Heat Two began similar to the first: Waddell led early, Lance caught and passed him and Redmond was again fighting through, but this is where the similarities end after Lance slowed, allowing Waddell to regain the lead. Meanwhile Redmond had his hands full as he battled with Phil Tremeer, the two swapping positions for a number of laps. As the checkers flew though it was Waddell who defeated Redmond and Tremeer.

The final heat saw Dan Golding leading early while a huge pack behind him went five wide. All cars eventually settled themselves, Nick Rowe holding down second place. Once again though, it was that man Kingshott who fought his way through from the rear, grabbing second place then slotting into the lead on lap seven. Behind him Kaiden Manders was also having a go, and he grabbed second place on the last lap to finish ahead of Golding.

The final was always going to be an interesting affair: both Guadagnino and Waddell had a shot at Manders points lead if things went their way, while Kingshott and Redmond off the front row, despite not fighting for points, were determined to get the win. As the greens flew it was Kingshott who got away, but it was Travis White who raced his way into second place, with Manders quickly pressuring him.

There were battles all through the field, Guadagnino and Waddell making contact at one point, with Alfie touching the wall as a result, while Manders and White continued to battle for second. On lap twelve though it all came undone for White as he slowed, stuck up against the turn two wall, ending his night and bringing out the only caution of the thirty lap race.

Kingshott led them away at he restart, with Manders, Waddell and Redmond close behind, the latter two going at it hammer and tongs. As the laps wound down Guadagnino closed on Redmond and ended up making the pass, the win going to Kingshott over Manders, Waddell and Guadagnino, keeping the three fighting for the series points in the same order. Redmond, Glazebrook (from the back row!), Telenta, Mears, Golding, Lanceand Phil Tremeer rounded out the finishers.

Courtesy of his second place finish Kaiden Manders secured the Sheehan Haulage Speedcar Grand Prix Series win, finishing with 1616 points, 68 points ahead of Waddell on 1548. Alfonso Guadagnino was third with 1526 points while Glen Mears and Dayne Kingshott rounded out the top five series finishers.

The Speedcars will once again be in action this weekend at the Perth Motorplex for the Silver Cup, with focus now shifting to the Perth Motorplex Track Championship, currently being led by Alfonso Guadagnino over Scott Glazebrook and Jason Tremeer.

Also stay tuned for a full recap of the Sheehan Haulage SpeedcarGrand Prix Series in the coming days!
