The inaugural Victorian Sports Sedan Series was recently wrapped at Rosedale Speedway when

Pakenham based driver Brendan Miller went on to win his fourth series final out of five, the other

that he didn’t win, he didn’t attend!

With wins at Wahgunyah, Wangaratta & Rushworth notched up Miller headed to the most local

track for him in the series expecting to compete against Rhys Collins. Unfortunately a final round

battle was not possible as Collins competed at Wahgunyah on the weekend of the final round trying

to consolidate his position in another series.

Supported by Rosedale Panels, the Rosedale events were run over two nights culminating in the

feature on the second night being the deciding result of the weekend.

Six heat races over the weekend were almost all dominated by the Miller brothers Brendan &

Damien.Displaying 06WANGDMT31115WEB.jpg

Brendan won the first of the weekend over Moon & Matt Nelson & then switch Moon & Nelson

around and the same result for Miller in the second heat.

Nelson & Miller traded places in a great heat for the third before Miller was penalised at race

conclusion for passing under the pole line dropping him out of the top three results for the first time

in the night. Moon & William’s took the second & third place positions.

On night two Damien Miller joined the show & began by winning the first heat by passing his little

brother Brendan on lap six of eight to take the lead & the win ahead of brother & Sam Williams.

Heat two on night two would see Damien be penalised for passing under the pole line, passing his

brother on the final lap before being shuffled back a spot to give the win to Brendan with Williams in

third.

The Miller brothers were at it again in the third and final heat of night two with Damien this time

taking a win cleanly in the officials’ eyes over his brother & Moon.

Brendan Miller then outclassed Sam Williams, Tania Paull, Ben Moon & Mark Pollard in the

‘Rosedale Panels Round five’ final at Rosedale to close out the series with another win.

Over the five rounds the top five on points was Brendan Miller, Rhys Collins, Matt Ridd, Tim

McPherson & Mark Pollard / Aaron Marshall equal on points for fifth.

Series organiser Pollard was the only competitor in the top five to be able to make it to all rounds &

can see some great potential in the series if the drivers chip in. “We had a reasonable field at

Wahgunyah that dropped away a little for the next day at Mount Beauty, before a massive forty cars

showed at Wangaratta. There is a lot going on for Sports Sedans & I’ll have a look at what we might

do to build on this in the coming weeks.”

Brendan Miller was chuffed to win the first ever state Sports Sedan Series. “We just love racing &

when things went our way at Wangaratta & we were close to the series lead despite missing Mount

Beauty, we decided to give it a crack & get over to Rushworth. I’d like to acknowledge Polly for

putting on the series & the people that supported the series & thank my own family, crew &

sponsors for helping me out along the way.”
