BELK MOTOR RACING SUPER SEDAN SEASON UNDERWAY
BELK MOTOR RACING SUPER SEDAN SEASON UNDERWAY
By Dean Thompson
Finally a beautiful night greeted the Belk Motor Racing team as they entered Rushworth Speedway for
a round of the state ‘Formula E Go Karts’ series, the first actual meeting to go ahead for the team of the
summer & Belk overcome early mishaps to finish the night against strong competition in sixth giving the
team a platform to build upon as the series travels Victoria this summer to build upon.
In the first of three heat races on a wet track starting back in seventh place, Belk finished fifth after a race
of drama with a couple of spins to avoid other cars spinning that slowed momentum plus a couple of hits
that also affected the teams progress. Belk admits to slamming into Anthony Randall before spinning and
being collected in the left front yet with minimal damage later in the race. Despite all this action, Belk was
still fourth fastest in the race in terms of lap times with Brad Wicks, Ash Bergmeier, Sean Lister, Trent
Susol finishing ahead of Belk all on the lead lap.
Starting from fourth place in the second heat, Belk moved into third from the drop of the green in a race
that ran flag to flag to finish crossing the line behind Bergmeier & Witnish and in front of Lionel West,
Randall & Mick Nicola Jnr amongst others.
With a pole position start in the final heat for the team, West won the drag race to the first turn with Belk
chasing for a couple laps. A mistake pushing high in a turn let Bergmeier & Wicks through and Belk
finished in fourth place putting him into eighth spot for the feature race whilst Bergmeier passed West for
the win.
The track conditions were difficult in the final whilst there are no excuses as everybody was racing on the
same track. It was difficult to pass.
After a couple of restarts, Belk moved up to sixth place on lap eight of thirty to trail to the finish
Begemeier, Trent Wilson, Wicks, Nicola Jnr & Witnish & finishing ahead of Scott Whittle.
Belk spoke at the end of the night with media. “Thank you to my supporters & crew for their efforts for
this team, I couldn’t do it without them & the fans for getting behind the message we are promoting
for ‘McGrath Foundation. Congratulations also to Bergmeier, Wilson from Queensland who came second
& Wicks for their placings & I look forward to Rosedale & Bairnsdale over Christmas. Stay safe everybody
& enjoy time with your families & friends.”
