PRAIA DE CARCAVELOS, Cascais/Portugal (Wednesday, October 4, 2017) - The Cascais Women's Pro, stop no. 8 on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), and the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais have been called on today. Competition will start with the first 4 heats of Men's Round 5 at 7:30 a.m. followed by the Women's Quarterfinals and Semifinals at the back-up site of Guincho with a possible finish to both events today.

“It's the second last day of the waiting period and tomorrow is looking significantly smaller than today,” Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Deputy Commissioner said. "Even today conditions have dropped more than we thought so we are planning to finish the women today and try and finish the men's event today as well if we can."

First to compete will be CT surfers Stuart Kennedy (AUS) and Kanoa Igarashi (USA) in Round 5 Heat 1. The women's event will recommence with Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) against Lakey Peterson (USA) in Quarterfinal 1.

Surfline, official forecaster for the EDP Billabong Cascais 2017 and the Cascais Women’s Pro, are calling for:

WNW swell continues Wednesday morning with fun size morning surf and favorable wind at Carcavelos. Larger, but windier, conditions at Guincho. Fading swell/surf for both Guincho and Carcavelos on Thursday.

The Cascais Women’s Pro runs in conjunction with the Men's QS 10,000 event, the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais 2017. Both events will be broadcast LIVE via WorldSurfLeague.com, the WSL app and on Facebook LIVE via the WSL’s Facebook page.  Also check the local listings for coverage on CBS Sports Network in the U.S., Fox Sports in Australia, ESPN in Brazil, Sky NZ in New Zealand, SFR Sports in France and Portugal, Sport TV in Portugal and the EDGEsport Network.
