Gunnamatta, VIC/AUS (Tuesday 16 January, 2017): The stakes for the Victorian Open Series presented by HIF have increased this year with the overall winner in both Mens and Womens divisions receiving a 7-day Maldives Surf trip thanks to The Perfect Wave Travel Co.

With the opening event of the series set to start this weekend on the Mornington Peninsula, the action will be fierce featuring past open champions Jack Perry (Jan Juc), Glyndyn Ringrose (Phillip Island) and Steve Noble (Cape Paterson).

Not only will the overall State Champion receive a 7-day surf trip, they will also receive a spot in the Rip Curl Pro trials giving them a chance to go head to head with the best surfers on the planet.

Surfing Victoria CEO, Adam Robertson, expects a solid field of experienced and young competitors at the opening event.

“I am looking forward to seeing the level of talent throughout Victoria increase to another level this year. We have some fantastic surfers from past champion Jack Perry through to young local surfer Max Burton.”

“With some the chance to surf at the Rip Curl Pro on the line as well as a trip to the Maldives, the surfing will be incredible to watch.”

A call for competition day and location will be made later in the week. Check Surfing Victoria Facebook page for updates.
