Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series Next Stop Avalon Raceway

By Ian Vale

Avalon Raceway will present round three of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series this Saturday night the twelve of November with a very strong field of nominations that includes some of the country’s finest drivers nominated, this round of the Series also doubles as the Fireball Derby giving that bit more incentive to try and take home some of the extra prize money added to the event.

Round one winner David Murcott is back again but he will have some stiff competition from the likes of current Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series Champion Brett Milburn along John Vogels, Corey McCullagh and the New South Wales charger Ian Loudoun.

Round one of the Series at Heartland Raceway was tough night for Brett Milburn who had to come thru the B Main to make the A Main and then finish with a strong fourth place, if Brett carries that form and speed into this round he will be hard to beat.

Another driver that was outstanding at Heartland was South Australia’s Glen Sutherland. Early race leader Domain Ramsay blew a trye to put him out of the race leaving the very fast Glen Sutherland in the lead, with only a few laps to go a small mistake by Sutherland handed the lead to David Murcott, but he could not close to gap down over the final laps.

Thirty six nomination have been received so for this event with many of those drivers past Eureka Garages & Shed Series round winners, Tasmania’s Shaun Dobson, Victoria’s Tim Rankin, Tim Van Ginneken, Corey McCullagh and John Vogels.

All the above drivers will be challenged by a strong contingent of the newer drivers that are on the pace, Jye Okeeffe, Jake Smith, Brad Warren and last season most improved driver Brayden Parr who picked up his first feature win last week in the 360 Allstar event at Mildura.

Other Eureka Series regulars in the field are Dennis Jones, James Gardiner, Adam King, Jordyn Charge, Charles Hunter, David McKay, Eddie Lumbar and David Aldersley.

And for the female fans there are lady drivers, Rhiannon Burleigh and Jessica Moulden. Jessica had a brief stint a few years back in the sprintcar ranks before stepping into the Formula 500’s with great success and more recently in the speedcars, now back into the sprintcar it will take a few shows for her to get back into the rhythm.

On track action at Avalon Raceway Lara will commence at approximately 6pm with engine starts and hot laps for the sprintcars before getting down to the serious racing shortly afterwards with thirty plus F500 on the program as well.

The Sprintcars driver will contest two heat races each before the last chance C and B Mains followed by the popular top six shootout and then the all important Eureka Garages & Sheds A Main that also doubles as the Fireball Derby.
