FIM ASIA SUPERMOTO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016 NEWCASTLE | ROUND 1 FEATURES LONGEST DIRT SECTION

NEWCASTLE, AUSTRALIA, 1 SEPTEMBER 2016 – Foreshore Park Newcastle is two days away from flagging off the FIM Asia Supermoto Championships 2016 series. The best riders from all across Asia and other continents will gather at the city’s scenic Foreshore Park to race on what could potentially be the most picturesque supermoto track the world has seen.
                                                        
This weekend’s track, 3 and 4 September 2016, will be exceptionally unique from all of the previous rounds last year particularly the dirt section. At 329-metres long, this will be the longest dirt track the race ever had. Unlike most other supermoto tracks where the off-road section is usually set at the later part of the lap, the Newcastle round will place it right at the starting point. Riders will immediately be greeted with dirt jumps and berms right off the bat. This will make for a very interesting race as the winner will most likely be determined at the very start of the race. Riders equipped with dirt skills will be the one to gain an early lead.
 
In addition, the 600-metres tarmac section features a couple of long straights with several chicane turn. Spectators can expect a high-speed battle once the riders hit the tarmac.
 
Race fans and spectators will get to enjoy top class amenities that the 7.6-hectre park has to offer, as well as breathtaking views of the city’s harbour which will act as the backdrop for the track.
 
The vast open field surrounding the track will serve as a perfect vantage point to watch the race while enjoying the beautiful harbour view of Newcastle. So bring your camping chairs and picnic mats to experience an exciting weekend of supermoto racing!

The FIM Asia Supermoto Championships 2016 is a regional supermoto championship organised by Asia Supersports Group, a consortium of three companies namely Bikenation Motorsports Sdn Bhd, CW Media Sdn Bhd and E-Plus Entertainment Productions (M) Sdn Bhd, and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Malaysia Major Events, Malaysia Truly Asia, Destination NSW, Tourism Hunter, Newcastle City Council, FIM Asia, Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM), KYT, KTM Malaysia and Premium World Motorsports (PWM) Sdn Bhd, official distributor of Husqvarna in Malaysia.
