GALLOWS BEACH, COFFS HARBOUR (Wednesday, August 10, 2016): Day seven of the NRMA Holiday Parks Australian Longboard Titles saw all remaining finalists decided today as the event recommenced in playful two-foot wedges at Gallows Beach.

2006 World Longboard Champion Josh Constable (Peregian, Qld) put on an excellent display of longboarding in the Over-35 Mens division, posting two near-perfect scores in excess of 9.00 (out of a possible 10 points). Constable linked a chain of well-executed backside manoeuvres to notch up the aforementioned total and cement himself a spot in the final where he is set to meet Rob Smith (Caringbah, NSW), John Schmidenberg (Emerald Beach, NSW) and Scott Trew (Mullaloo, WA).

After being eliminated from the event in the Over-40 Mens semi-final, event standout Jason Livingston (Curl Curl, NSW) proceeded to put on one of the most impressive displays seen over the day in the Over-45 Mens semi-final, posting a massive 17.75 heat total (out of a possible 20 points). Livingston found rhythm in his second heat, unleashing a barrage of giant turns to cement a position in the final. Livingston will meet local surfers Charlie O’Sullivan (Woolgoolga, NSW) and John Murray (Sawtell, NSW) as well as Tony Rae (Hastings Point, NSW) in tomorrow’s final.

Alan Atkins (Byron Bay, NSW) caused one of the biggest upsets of the event eliminating multiple Australian Longboard Champion and perennial title threat Danny Bond (Long Jetty, NSW) from the event in the semi-finals of the Over-65 Mens division. Atkins notched up an impressive 15.50 heat total to seal himself a spot into the final.

Finalists for all ten remaining divisions will be crowned tomorrow.

The Australian Surf Festival will commence each day at 7:30am with the call for the days schedule and location confirmed via the event hotline at 6:45am. The event hotline number is 0458 247 212 which will leave a voice recorded message each morning of the event.
