North Queensland Double Down Sprintcar Series
Brisbane-based Woods Motorsport proudly presents this years Double Down Sprintcar Series, with two huge weekends of racing in stunning North Queensland.
The series kicks off at Mareeba Speedway, near Cairns, on Saturday the 7th of September 2019 for round one of the series, before heading to Cairns Speedway for a spectacular two-night show on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th September 2019.
Mareeba Speedway, located about an hour from Cairns, complete with recent upgrades to track lighting, will host Sprintcars for the first time in several decades and provides an ideal location to launch the 2019 Double Down Sprintcar Series, before the teams head over to Cairns International Speedway for a sensational two-night finale, culminating in a 35-lap feature event on the Saturday night.
The format for both events will consist of qualifying heats, dashes and main events, with $5000 on the line for the winner of each Saturday night A-Main. There will be in excess of $36,000 in prize money over the course of the series, and some thrilling Sprintcar racing sure to entertain the fans.
Sprintcar nominations are still rolling in, with nominations already received from all over Queensland and the Northern Territory, plus there are at least half a dozen more still to be confirmed over the coming couple of weeks. Drivers are asked to contact Allan Woods directly if they are interested in competing.
North Queensland has a great range of activities and adventures if you are planning on escaping the winter blues of more southerly locations, taking an extended break and taking in some Sprintcar racing action.

Kicking Up The Dirt – Sprintcars Queensland 2015-2016 Presentation Dinner
Kicking Up The Dirt – Sprintcars Queensland 2015-2016 Presentation Dinner
Joanne White
With the 2015-2016 race season now concluded the drivers, crews, families, friends and
sponsors of Sprintcars Queensland gathered at Easts Leagues Club for the annual end of season
celebrations and festivities. Almost 140 people attended the black tie event, with Wade Aunger
acting as MC for the night. It was a night to celebrate the season that was – and what a truly
remarkable season we have had. It was a season full of plenty of thrills, spills and close
competition, but also one that saw the best once again rise to the top, as well as a host of
newcomers and young talent that really gave some of our most seasoned competitors a run for
their money.
First up were some Appreciation Awards for the Sponsors who have generously supported
Sprintcars Queensland and our drivers this past season. These people and their companies have
shown unwavering and invaluable support for Sprintcars Queensland and the sport of Sprintcar
racing in general and their contribution is endlessly appreciated. Without these people we
would have no Kratzmann Caravans Challenge, no Darra Mechanical Hard Charger Award, No
Lucas Oils Dash and no Right Price Exhausts Heat Race Championships. Both SuperCheap Auto
and East Coast Logistics as series sponsors this season have been such valued partners this
season, while Ken Thorn and Myla Graphics have worked tirelessly behind the scenes for all our
graphic and signage needs. Glen and Christine Spence and the Darra Mechanical team again
stepped up to sponsor the hard charger award while Gary Kratzmann and the Kratzmann
Caravans team again sponsored the Kratzmann Caravans Challenge. Mark Wode, who already
contributes so much to the Sprintcars Queensland club, together with Right Price Exhausts again
sponsored the heat race points championship, while Clem Hoffmans and Downforce Wings
generously donated a front wing to be given to the fifth place finisher in each of the B-Main
events in the SuperCheap Auto Sprintcar Series.
While all of our sponsors are invaluable, so too are our volunteers. We have a small band of
officials who work absolutely tirelessly behind the scenes not only on race nights, but often on
those days and nights in between as well. John and Kathy Kelly, who coincidentally celebrated
their 21 st wedding anniversary last night, are not just the promoters of Archerfield Speedway but
both hold positions in our executive committee (President and Treasurer) and their contribution
to this sport and this club should never be underestimated. Mark Wode and Lyn Turner have
again concluded another year on the Sprintcars Queensland Executive Committee, as Vice
President and Secretary, with their endless and relentless efforts behind the scenes a significant
factor in the smooth running of this club. What Mark and Lyn do, the time and effort they put in,
despite not having a personal connection with any one car, driver or team, is simply incredible –
they have helped shape and grow this club for over fifteen years and few people realise just how
much they do. Their contribution cannot be measured and there are no words that can
adequately portray just how indebted and thankful everyone at Sprintcars Queensland is for all
that they have done over the years.
Still on the topic of volunteers, Appreciation Awards were given to Glen Wilson, David Tracey
and Chris Dvorak for their work as our crash crew and fire marshals. These gentlemen are often
some of the first on the scene when one (or more) of our drivers is involved in an incident and do
an invaluable job keeping the drivers as safe as possible. Volunteer officials are hard to come by
but Ken Thorn has been a vital part of the infield officials team and crash crew, lending a hand
and helping to ensure the smooth running of events. Sprintcars Queensland even gave me a
small thank you writing these reports – though it is hard to believe it been over twelve years
now!
Once all our sponsors and volunteers had been thanked, it was time to move on to the Super
Cheap Auto Series and recognise the achievements of the drivers and teams who contested the
thirteen round series. We started with Andrew Scheuerle as the winner of the Right Price
Exhausts Heat Race Points chase before moving onto the fifteen series qualifiers.
The SuperCheap Auto Sprintcar Series was hard fought and while Andrew Scheuerle dominated,
especially with his remarkable run of feature wins in the early part of the season, there was a
large field of drivers who consistently put on truly mesmerising racing that kept everyone
entertained on a Saturday night. The final places in the SuperCheap Auto Sprintcar
Championship were as follows:
15 th : Q43 Scott Doyle
14 th : Q3 Clem Hoffmans
13 th : NQ11 Brad Ayers
12 th : Q44 Dan Murray
11 th : Q33 Callum Walker
10 th : Q27 Steven Johnson
09 th : Q14 Mark Pholi
08 th : NQ23 Lachlan McHugh
07 th : Q5 Peter Lack
06 th : NQ44 Brandon Rawlings
05 th : Q47 Andrew Liebke
04 th : Q4 Brent Kratzmann
03 rd : Q41 Mitchell Gee
02 nd : Q59 Kevin Titman
01 st : Andrew Scheuerle
Moving on to the East Coast Logistics Crispy Memorial Series that was held over five gruelling
rounds at the end of the season, and once again it was a hard-fought championship battle full of
thrilling racing action from the entire field. The championship went down to the final night of
competition with Sprintcar Rookie Lachlan McHugh beating seasoned racer Andrew Scheuerle
by just two points.
There were nine qualifiers in the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series:
09 th : Q59 Kevin Titman
08 th : Q41 Mitchell Gee
07 th : Q54 Richard Morgan
06 th : Q16 Bryan Mann
05 th : Q83 David Murcott
04 th : Q4 Brent Kratzmann
03 rd : Q36 Luke Oldfield
02 nd : Q25 Andrew Scheuerle
01 st : NQ23 Lachlan McHugh
It came as no surprise to anyone in the room that eighteen-year- old Lachlan McHugh also picked
up Rookie of the Year. If you haven’t already seen him race, you need to. This quiet young man
is a huge talent and has a simply massive future ahead of him in this sport. To have achieved
several feature race wins, in very tough competition, plus a number of podium finishes and a
series win in just his first year in the division is truly remarkable. He is breath-taking to watch
on the race track and is without a doubt one to watch in the years ahead. I know I am not alone
when I say I cannot wait to see just how far he can go in this sport in next five or ten years.
Encouragement awards this year were presented to Steven Johnson and Ben Hilder, who have
both shown a lot of promise this season but have not always had luck on their side. Ben
unfortunately could not be with us last night, he is still recovering after a rather nasty crash
during the final round a couple of weeks ago, his father Brad collecting the award on his behalf.
Brandon Rawlings had a great season in the NQ44 racer and despite a few nasty crashes,
Brandon really learnt a lot this season and was recognised as the Most Improved Driver of the
season. Unfortunately Brandon was also unable to attend last nights festivities, an extra-
curricular activity leaving him with a broken collarbone just hours before last nights
presentation dinner.
This year there were several (too many) nominations for the Wings Award, the most spectacular
or most frequent crashing. While Mitchell Gee came close to winning the award last year, this
year he, and team mate Brandon Rawlings, along with Kevin Titman were all joint winners of the
award they all claim no one wants to win. While Mitchell and Brandon both had several big
crashes, they were able to avoid crashing together, through did on occasion crash independent of
each other on the same night. Kevin, whose Q59 racer looked immaculate this year, started the
season strongly but some misfortune throughout season saw him a deserving joint winner of the
2015-2016 Wings Award.
The crew Chief of the Year award was this year presented to Tony Cochran for his efforts on the
Q4 racer of Brent Kratzmann. Tony works tirelessly for Brent, making sure that he not only has a
well presented car (it seriously looks spectacular every time it hits the track), but that it is a well
maintained and quality package that Brent can rely on.
Andrew Scheuerle and the AusDeck Patios and Roofing team took out the Best Presented Car
while Brad Ayers and the NQ11 team were credited as the Best Presented Crew.
Bryan Mann took home the coveted Greg Crispy McClennan Trophy, a kind of ‘best and fairest’
award in memory of a great man. Kevin Titman and Andrew Scheuerle again took out the
Clubmen of the year awards, the pair doing an extraordinary number of race meetings with the
club, a true testament to their passion and commitment, as well as that of their family, friends
and sponsors. It was the second year running that the pair have been the only two recipients of
the Clubmen of the year award, an impressive effort by all involved.
The 2015-2016 Club Championship was a hotly contested battle, with Kevin Titman taking home
third overall. Kevin accepted third but credited his best friend and crewman Bobbie for the
award, with Bobbie putting in a truly extraordinary effort not just during the reason season but
during last winter as he built the new team truck with countless hours spent in the Titman team
workshop. Luke Oldfield managed to sure second in the Club Championship, a great effort for his
first season in the Titan Garages and Carports team, while Andrew Scheuerle and the AusDeck
Patios and Roofing team took out the 2015-2016 Club Championship, as well as the Archerfield
Speedway Track Championship, taking the teams trophy tally for the night to seven.
Perhaps one of the most prized awards is the Drivers Driver award, chosen on the night by the
drivers present as the driver they most respect both on and off the racetrack. In a first since the
awards inception, we had a tie, with both Bryan Mann and Richard Morgan receiving an equal
number of votes. Bryan actually won the award last year, and to have been chosen for a second
year running is testament to the man that he is and the respect the other competitors have for
him. Richard has to be one of the most likable drivers in the sport, always keeping the racing
clean on the track and is one of the most easy going drivers in the pits.
The night concluded with some raffle draws and a Major Sponsor Award to John and Kathy Kelly
and AusDeck Patios and Roofing Archerfield Speedway. Whilst we love the opportunity to race
at some of our country tracks, Archerfield Speedway is the home track of many of our drivers.
John and Kathy and the team work relentlessly for not only Sprintcars Queensland and the
drivers and teams of this club, but for Speedway in general. Theirs is not an easy job, and is,
more often than not, a thankless one, but they give us place to race week in and week out. They
do more for this sport and this club than most people realise and their passion is relentless and
we could not do what we do without people like them.
Our 2015-2016 season may now be finished but there are already big plans in place for the
2016-2017 race season. Archerfield Speedway have already released their proposed calendar
for the coming season, and keep an eye out for a full Sprintcars Queensland Calendar coming
soon. We will of course be racing at AusDeck Patios Archerfield Speedway, as well and Hi-Tech
Oils Toowoomba Speedway, but we are trying to negotiate with several country tracks for a few
shows as well. At this stage our 2016-2017 season kicks off at AusDeck Patios Archerfield
Speedway on Saturday 17 September 2016 – enjoy the winter break and see you trackside in
about 97 sleeps!

Kicking UP The Dirt - Race Season 2018-2019 Awards Night
The drivers, crews, family, sponsors and supporters of Sprintcars Queensland gathered last night at Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane to celebrate not only what was one our best seasons to date but to celebrate the achievements of the people who made the race season everything it was.
Wade Aunger again served as our MC for the night and started the awards with a Major Sponsor Award for Dave Horrell and East Coast Logistics. East Coast Logistics have been supporters of the sport and Sprintcars Queensland for a very long time, sponsoring the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series at Archerfield Speedway, and their contribution is absolutely invaluable. Furthermore they have already pledged their support for next season and will again bring us the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series at Archerfield for the 2019-2020 race season.
Likewise, Queensland Speedway Spares and Bill Mann have made enormous contributions to the sport of Speedway and to Sprintcars Queensland. The landscape of Australian Speedway would not be the same without Bill Mann and Queensland Speedway Spares and we are grateful for their continued and invaluable support. Jason Greenwood accepted the award on behalf of the Queensland Speedway Spares team.
Special Thanks also went to our Associate Sponsors. Without the support from people and companies like Ken and Wendy McNamara from KRE, Ken and Kaye Thorne from Myla Graphics, Clem Hoffmans from Spanloc Tools and Brent Kratzmann from BK Trading, this season could not have been as remarkable as it was. We thank each of these people for their continued and invaluable support.
Two of our on track officials, Glenn Wilson and Dan Roberts, along with media correspondent Joanne White, were recognised for their volunteer efforts to support the club again this past season. Glenn and Dan play such a huge part behind the scenes making sure each race meeting runs as smoothly as possible, organising the drivers and trying to make sure everyone is ready their events, before heading infield to act as our crash crew and being first on scene when the crashes do happen. They dedicate so much time and energy to our club, along with some of our other volunteers who could not be with us last night, and we at Sprintcars Queensland are all incredibly grateful for their efforts. Whilst he was unable to be with us last night, thanks must also go to Chris Dvorak, who, after seven incredible years a crash crew volunteer, has finished up with the club. His years of service and passion for the sport are endlessly appreciated and we wish Chris and his family the very best for what lies ahead.
The USC Series held at Hi-Tec Oils Speedway in Toowoomba was a truly noteworthy series of breath-taking Sprintcar racing. Robbie Farr and Lachlan McHugh (both of who were absent last night) took out the top two positions, with Andrew Scheuerle, Peter Lack and Brent Kratzmann rounding out the top five.
Thanks must also go to Kirsty Kelly and her partner Sean, as well as a few others who helped with ticket sales in the 50/50 raffles this season. Money raised from the raffles this year was in excess of $21,000 while Gary Kratzmann certainly deserves a special mention for purchasing $50 worth of tickets at every event.
The top fifteen drivers and teams in the East Coast Logistics Series were congratulated on a massive and impressive season.

01st. Andrew Scheuerle (A1)
Rookie of the Year this year went to Ryan McNamara while this years very deserving winner of the Most Improved Driver was Kristy Bonsey. Gary Leeson took out Crew Member of the Year, while Brent Kratzmann and his team on the always immaculately presented Q2 racer took out Best Presented Car and Crew. Libby Ellis was this years recipient of the Encouragement Award, while a series of spectacular crashes in the last half of the season saw Luke Oldfield walk away with the Wings Award. Mitch Gowland, despite having his best season to date and contesting more A-Mains than in previous years, also took out the B-Main points, while Andrew Scheuerle was again a model of consistency in his heats to take home the Heat Race Points Championship. This years Driver’s Driver award, voted for on the night by all of the drivers present, was Dave Whell.
The Sprintcars Queensland Club Championship saw Brent Kratzmann come home in third place, after strong performances in both Brisbane and Toowoomba, while Peter Lack finished second, a well deserved result for his final season in the drivers seat. A special video package was played to highlight the incredible and long racing career of Lack and to thank him for all that he has contributed to this sport over the years. While Lack is stepping out of the drivers seat he will still be involved in the GW Racing operation going forward. Andrew Scheuerle again took out of Club Championship, topping off what was truly a remarkable season for Andrew, his family and his team.
We must also thank John and Kathy Kelly at Archerfield Speedway, Barry and Felicity Waldron at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway and Stewart Craig and the Ausdeck Group for their continued support. John and Kathy Kelly, on top of their commitments at both Ausdeck Archerfield Speedway and Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, and their duties with Speedway Australia are absolutely invaluable in their roles within Sprintcars Queensland. They do so very much for our sport and our club and have had, and continue to have, such a profound impact on Sprintcar Racing in Queensland. Their passion and dedication to this sport is unparalleled and we are so very fortunate to have people like John and Kathy in our club.
Thank you too to all the people and organisations that contributed the many raffle prizes on offer last night, in addition to those provided by Sprintcars Queensland. Oldfield Racing, JTR Racing, Ausdeck Patios and Roofing, John and Kathy Kelly, BHR Fabrications, Queensland Speedway Spares, Donny Schatz and Pattemore Meats and Libby Ellis.
Thank you also to all the partners, families, volunteers, sponsors, fans and supporters who all contribute so much to our sport and our season. There are untold amounts of people who make a great number of sacrifices (time, money and effort) so that our drivers can go out on the track and have some fun. This is truly a team sport and the support networks behind our drivers are the ones that, together, make all of this possible. None of our drivers can do what they do without the support of those behind the scenes and so, to all those who make it possible for each of our drivers to hit the track, thank you.
And that race fans wraps up our 2019-2020 race season. It has arguably been one of the best seasons to date and with plans already in place and underway for next season, we are all looking forward to another bigger and better year of Sprintcar Racing. Several of our drivers will also be (or already are) contesting some races in American during our winter break and we wish them a safe, successful and fun trip. Next season for us will officially kick off in September and we hope to see you all trackside when the things with wings return to the track.

Kicking Up The Dirt – ECL Series – Grand Final
Peter Lack got the win at Archerfield Speedway last night in the Grand Final of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series, and his last race at the Brisbane venue before hanging up the helmet. Lack closed in on Australian Sprintcar Champion Andrew Scheuerle, who was leading with two laps left to run, the pair navigating lapped traffic before Lack committed to the bottom coming out of turn two, challenging Scheuerle for the race lead with just one and half laps left to run. Lack made his way ahead of Scheuerle as they come out of turn four and raced past the white flag, timing his run perfectly and securing a very popular win. Andrew Scheuerle crossed the line in second with Allan Woods rounding out the podium. Michael Saller and Brent Kratzmann completed the top five while Kristy Bonsey had a brilliant drive to come home in sixth ahead of B-Main transferee Brock Dean. Darren Jensen, Randy Morgan and Tim Farrell rounded out the top ten.
Qualifying got underway and it was Brent Kratzmann, who, on his last qualifying lap, secured Quick Time, stopping the clock at 11.634 seconds, narrowly beating Peter Lack (11.683). Lack was second quickest ahead of Andrew Scheuerle (11.769), Allan Woods (11.855) and Michael Saller (11.955). Darren Jensen beat Randy Morgan by just three thousandths of a second, Tim Farrell beat Brock Dean by just one hundredth of a second, while Anthony Lambert beat Sean Rose by just 0.01 seconds. Dave Whell was just one thousandth of second quicker than Karl Hoffmans, the pair securing the final two positions in the eighteen-car inversion. The top twenty drivers, in the twenty-four car field, were separated by less than one second.
Heat one got underway with Karl Hoffmans and Andrew Corbet from the front row, with Corbet quickly securing the lead when the lights went green. Darren Jensen got around Hoffmans as they rounded the first corner, the Q75 racer settling in to second and setting out after the race leaders, while behind them Brent Kratzmann got around Sean Rose before turning his attention to Hoffmans, while Rose surrendered a position to a hard-charging Kevin Titman before coming under pressure from Mitch Gowland. Titman got underneath Kratzmann and set out after Hoffmans, but wasted little time in finding his way around the Q3 racer. Titman was on a mission to get to the front of the field and he carried plenty of momentum as he began closing in on the leaders. Kratzmann followed him around Hoffmans and began closing in on both Titman and Jensen, while Rose and Gowland began challenging Hoffmans for the minor places. Andrew Corbet got the win ahead of Darren Jensen, Kevin Titman and Brent Kratzmann, with Karl Hoffmans, Sean Rose, Mitch Gowland and Libby Ellis rounding out the finishers.
Dave Whell and Anthony Vanderreyden shared the front row for the start of the second heat, with Whell getting the better start and quickly securing the race lead. Vanderreyden challenged on the high side as they rounded the second corner but was soon forced on the defensive as Randy Morgan began challenging him for his position. Peter Lack spent a couple of laps searching for a way past Anthony Lambert, with Michael Saller on his tail, with Lack eventually getting underneath Lambert as they rounded turn four a few laps into the race. Morgan took to the high line and raced around Vanderreyden before turning his focus to closing the gap to Whell, leaving Vanderreyden to try and defend his position from Lack. Lambert and Saller had their own intense battle unfolding towards the tail of the field, the pair putting on a spectacular show for race fans, while relentlessly pursuing Vanderreyden before finally making his way around the Q72 racer. Once he had displaced Vanderreyden, Lack set about closing in on the race leaders, with Randy Morgan having caught Dave Whell and holding nothing back as he searched for a way into the race lead. Morgan was captivating as he challenged Whell, and certainly had plenty of car speed, but it was Dave Whell who managed to hang on and take the win. Randy Morgan finished second, with Peter Lack right behind him in third. Anthony Vanderreyden finished fourth and led Anthony Lambert, Michael Saller and Scott Genrich across the line.
Kristy Bonsey and Trent Vardy shared the front row for the start of heat three, and while both got a great start when the green flag flew, it was Bonsey who led the field through the first corner. Bonsey immediately started opening a small lead over her rivals, while Allan Woods began searching for a way past Vardy, and, deeper in the field, Andrew Scheuerle made his way past Marshall Lewis and started challenging Tim Farrell for track position. Scheuerle got underneath Farrell as they completed the first lap of the race and set out after Vardy, who had just surrendered second to Woods. Scheuerle spent a few laps closing in on Vardy and looking for a way past before slipping through on the bottom and moving into third. A caution followed soon after for the spun car of Marshall Lewis in turn four, with Bonsey to lead the restart from Woods and Scheuerle. Bonsey got a brilliant start and immediately pulled away from her rivals, but another caution, when Lewis spun to a stop in turn two, brought the race back under caution. Lewis was relegated to the infield while Bonsey, Woods and Scheuerle led the field back to green light conditions. Bonsey again was too good on the start and quickly opened a small margin on her rivals, leaving Woods to try and defend his position from Scheuerle. Kristy Bonsey was unstoppable out in front and went on to take the win, with a margin of a second and half over second-placed Allan Woods. Andrew Scheuerle crossed the line in third and led Trent Vardy, Tim Farrell and Jason King home. Marshall Lewis did not finish the event.
Heat four started with Karl Hoffmans from pole position with Dave Whell alongside. The first start was aborted with officials deeming Whell responsible for jumping the start and relegating him to the second row for the restart, with Randy Morgan inheriting the front row alongside Hoffmans. Hoffmans got the jump when the lights went green, but Morgan was too quick on the top side, racing around the Q3 racer and into the race lead as they rounded the first corner, leaving Hoffmans in second ahead of Kristy Bonsey and Kevin Titman. Bonsey held down third but immediately came under increasing pressure from Titman, who had quickly displaced Whell as they took the green, while behind them Brent Kratzmann found his way underneath Whell and started chasing down Titman and Bonsey. Bonsey searched unsuccessfully for a way past Hoffmans before surrendering her position to Titman who found incredible momentum on the high side, racing around Bonsey and beginning to challenge Hoffmans. Bonsey fought back on the bottom, racing underneath Titman and regaining her position before Titman fired back half a lap later, getting underneath the Q42 racer before looking for a way through on the inside of Hoffmans. Titman eventually got underneath Hoffmans, while Bonsey defended her position from a hard-charging Brent Kratzmann. Kratzmann committed to the high line, racing beautifully around Bonsey with one and a half laps left to run, before racing around the top side of Hoffmans a lap later, taking over third on the final lap of the race. Randy Morgan got the win ahead of Kevin Titman and Brent Kratzmann, with Karl Hoffmans, Kristy Bonsey, Dave Whell and Mitch Gowland rounding out the finishers.
Brock Dean, who missed the first round of heats due to mechanical problems in the Q8 racer, started heat five from pole position with Sean Rose alongside and Anthony Lambert and Michael Saller close behind. Dean and Rose raced wheel-to-wheel into the first corner but it was Dean who managed to secure the advantage, leaving Rose in second ahead of Saller and Lambert. Peter Lack raced around the high side of Lambert and took over fourth, while Saller began challenging Rose for second, getting the job done as they rounded turn four for the first time. Saller started chasing down Dean while Lack began to challenge Rose, and Darren Jensen searched for a way past Lambert deeper in the field. Lack eventually made his way past Rose, while at the front of the field Dean ran a fraction too wide in turn four, allowing Saller to close gap significantly, the N56 racer then capitalising on his luck, racing underneath Dean and into the race lead less than half a lap later. Rose spun to a stop soon after and brought the race under caution, with Saller to lead the restart from Dean, Lack and Lambert. Jensen eventually found his way past Lambert, while Dean, with a broken front wing, surrendered second to Lack on the final lap of the race. Michael Saller got the win ahead of Peter Lack and Brock Dean, with Darren Jensen home in fourth and leading Anthony Lambert, Scott Genrich, Marshall Lewis and Sean Rose across the line.
The sixth and final heat of the night saw Trent Vardy start from pole position, with Andrew Corbet elevated to the front row when Anthony Vanderreyden pulled out with mechanical issues in the Q72 racer before taking the green. Corbet made the most of his front row start, immediately securing the race lead, while Allan Woods quickly displaced Tim Farrell before turning his attention to Vardy. Andrew Scheuerle started working his way forward, searching for a way past Farrell, with Farrell regaining a position from Woods when Woods and Vardy almost came together in turn two a few laps into the event. Half a lap later they were three-wide through turn four as Scheuerle, on the bottom, and Woods, running mid track, both tried to simultaneously get underneath Farrell. Farrell led them out of the turn but Woods powered around the top side soon after, getting past Farrell and turning his attention back to Vardy, with Scheuerle following a lap later. Woods and Scheuerle quickly made their way past Vardy, with Vardy taking the opportunity to study the driving style of the current Australian Sprintcar Champion from an on track position. Scheuerle soon made his way past Woods and started closing in on Corbet but ran out of laps before the chequered flag flew. Andrew Corbet got the win ahead of Andrew Scheuerle and Allan Woods, with Trent Vardy closing in on Woods a little in the final four laps of the race. Vardy finished fourth and led Tim Farrell, Jason King and Libby Ellis across the line. Anthony Vanderreyden did not start the event.
Peter Lack led the points going into the Dash event but inverted the top six starters for the event when he drew position six in the pre-dash draw. Kevin Titman and Randy Morgan shared the front row for the six-lap affair with Titman quickly securing the lead as the green flag flew. Morgan settled into second but immediately came under pressure from Allan Woods, while behind them Brent Kratzmann and Andrew Scheuerle fought over the mid field positions. Woods got underneath Morgan, as Scheuerle got past on the inside of Kratzmann, leaving Kratzmann with Michael Saller and Peter Lack on his tail, the trio having a captivating battle until Lack unexpectedly slowed and circulated slowly on the inside edge of the track. Scheuerle got the better of Morgan and set out after Woods, but it was Kevin Titman who secured the win, earning pole position for the main race. Allan Woods finished second ahead of Andrew Scheuerle, Randy Morgan, Brent Kratzmann, Michael Saller, Darren Jensen and Peter Lack.
Ten cars hit the track for the B-Main with Brock Dean and Sean Rose leading them to the green for the twelve-lap journey. Dean secured the lead and while Rose tried to challenge for control on the high side, he was forced to settle for second but soon came under pressure from Anthony Vanderreyden. Vanderreyden slipped underneath Rose and took over second, setting out after Dean and leaving Rose in third. Behind them the battle for the fourth and final transfer was starting to heat up, with Mitch Gowland and Scott Genrich fighting over track position while both tried to find a way past Karl Hoffmans. Moments later Hoffmans spun in turn four, with all drivers doing a magnificent job to avoid the Q3 racer. Dean, Vanderreyden and Rose led the restart, with Genrich sitting in the final transfer spot. Gowland surrendered fifth to Marshall Lewis before racing back around the top side a couple of laps later, while Genrich challenged Rose for third and Vanderreyden had a massive look on the inside of Dean as they fought over the race lead. A couple of cautions soon followed as Lewis spun, twice, and prematurely ended his race, with Dean remaining in control and opening a significant margin as the race drew to a close. Gowland, Rose and Genrich had a brilliant battle for the minor places, the trio fighting over just two transfer positions as they raced closer to the chequered flag. Gowland was magnificent on the top side, getting around Genrich and edging a little closer to Vanderreyden, but a small error on the final corner of the race allowed Genrich to slip up the inside and steal third as they crossed the line. Brock Dean got the win ahead of Anthony Vanderreyden and Scott Genrich, with Mitch Gowland scoring the final transfer to the last Sprintcar A-Main at Archerfield Speedway this season. Sean Rose was forced to settle for fifth and led Karl Hoffmans, Geoff Davey and Libby Ellis across the line. Marshall Lewis and Jason King did not finish the race.
Kevin Titman and Allan Woods shared the front row for the final Sprintcar Feature race at Archerfield Speedway this season, with a tough field behind them. The leading duo raced side-by-side towards the first corner and while Andrew Scheuerle had a brief look on the inside of the pair as they raced into turn one, it was Titman who led them all into turn two. Titman secured the lead ahead of Woods and while Woods challenged the Q59 racer for control of the race, Titman refused to surrender the lead. Behind them Randy Morgan had an unsuccessful look around the top side of Scheuerle, while Brent Kratzmann slammed the wall going down the back straight and surrendered his position to a determined Peter Lack. Kratzmann fought back through turn three but Lack was too quick on the bottom, getting the better of Kratzmann and Morgan before they completed the first lap of the race. Kratzmann switched to the bottom and got underneath Morgan half a lap later, while Lack closed in on Scheuerle, who was challenging Woods for second. Darren Jensen and Michael Saller exchanged positions back and forth a few times just outside the top five, while Kristy Bonsey was making impressive progress forward and was challenging Andrew Corbet for position. At the front of the field Woods had closed in on Titman and was challenging for the lead, the Q28 racer committed to the bottom and looking underneath Titman as they rounded turns three and four. Titman held on to the race lead but Woods was unrelenting, persisting on the bottom for a few more laps before eventually taking control of the race. Titman tried to fight back on the high side but soon found Andrew Scheuerle on the bottom, challenging hard for second, while mid-field Bonsey had displaced both Corbet and Darren Jensen. Trent Vardy, who was absolutely ecstatic to qualify straight into the main race, had a great battle with Tim Farrell, while at the front of the field Scheuerle made his way past Titman before racing around Woods and taking control of the race in lapped traffic. Peter Lack made his way into third just moments before Titman climbed the wall in turn four before slowing to a stop on the main straight and bringing the race under caution. Unfortunately for Titman his race was over with nineteen laps still to run.
Andrew Scheuerle led the restart from Alan Woods and Peter Lack, with Michael Saller and Brent Kratzmann close behind. Kristy Bonsey got underneath Randy Morgan was they rounded turn two, while closer to the front of the field Lack got underneath Woods and moved into second, leaving Woods with Saller and Kratzmann on his tail and Bonsey closing in. Saller took to the high line as he tried to find a way past Woods, but Woods refused to surrender his position, while deeper in the field Brock Dean, who transferred from the B-Main, was making impressive progress, sticking to the low line and making his way through the field, making his way past Morgan before turning his attention to Darren Jensen, quickly catching the Q75 racer and slipping by on the inside a few laps later. Lack closed in on Scheuerle as they made their way through lapped traffic, the Q5 racer timing his run perfectly, taking to the low line and racing up the inside of Scheuerle with just one and a half or so laps remaining in his last Brisbane race. Lack secured the advantage just before they raced past the white flag and from there was simply unstoppable, closing out an impressive racing career at Archerfield Speedway with one last win. Andrew Scheuerle finished second with Allan Woods managing to hold off a hard-charging Michael Saller to finish third. Saller crossed the line in fourth while Brent Kratzmann finished fifth. Kristy Bonsey impressed with a sixth place finish, after starting back in eleventh, while Brock Dean crossed the line seventh after transferring from the B-Main. Darren Jensen was eighth across the line and led Randy Morgan, Tim Farrell, Anthony Lambert, Mitch Gowland, Dave Whell, Andrew Corbet, Trent Vardy, Scott Genrich and Anthony Vanderreyden home. Kevin Titman was the only driver who did not finish the event.

Randy Morgan inherited a front row start for the start of the fourth heat, quickly securing the lead and running away from the field. Morgan went on to get the win while Kevin Titman made his way in to second and started closing in on Morgan as the race wore on. Brent Kratzmann had a brilliant run in the Q2 racer, searching high and low for a way around Kristy Bonsey for most of the race. Kratzmann timed his run perfectly, taking to the high line and getting around both Bonsey and Karl Hoffmans with the white flag in the air before crossing the line in third.
Brock Dean led the first half of heat five until a small mistake at mid race distance gave Michael Saller the opportunity he needed. Saller quickly closed in on Dean and took control of the race less than a lap later before going on to take the win. Peter Lack crossed the line in second after getting the better of Dean late in the race, while Dean, with a broken front wing, finished third.
Andrew Corbet secured the lead when heat six got underway and opened a very comfortable lead as the laps wore on. Andrew Scheuerle systematically worked his way forward, slipping almost effortlessly underneath Allan Woods and moving into second with three laps left to run. Scheuerle closed in on Corbet as they raced closer tot he chequered flag, but was forced to settle for second. Allan Woods finished third.

Dave Whell secure the lead in heat two when the lights went green, but soon came under enormous pressure from a very hard-charging Randy Morgan. Morgan was relentless as he searched high and low for a way into the lead but was forced to settle for second, with Whell getting the win. Peter Lack eventually got the better of Anthony Lambert before closing in on Whell and Morgan late in the race, crossing the line in third at the end of the ten lap journey.
No one had anything for Kristy Bonsey in heat three, the Q42 racer surviving several restarts and easily taking the win ahead of Allan Woods and Andrew Scheuerle.

It’s almost grand final time race fans with the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series set to wrap up this Saturday night (01 June 2019) at Ausdeck Archerfield Speedway. It’s going to be a huge night so come and join us at Archerfield Speedway for the last time this season (and don’t forget to bring a friend (or two) and rug up - it’s looking like it will be a little chilly)

Thirty Sprintcars rolled into Ausdeck A
Kicking Up The Dirt – ECL Series - Round 16
Thirty Sprintcars rolled into Ausdeck Archerfield Speedway last night for the second last time this season and treated the large crowd to some truly breath-taking racing. Peter Lack advanced through the three shootout events to earn pole position for the main race, with Kevin Titman sharing the front row. Titman led the field to the first corner but soon surrendered control to a determined Lack who went on to lead the first half of the race. Andrew Scheuerle, who displaced both Cody Maroske and Michael Saller in the first five laps to advance to third, came on strong at mid-race distance, catching Titman and Lack in lapped traffic. Scheuerle raced beautifully underneath Titman as they headed down the back straight before getting up the inside of Lack and getting his nose in front of Lack less than half a lap later. Lack fired back around the top side, refusing to surrender the lead, but Scheuerle was not done and persisted on the bottom, spending a few laps looking underneath Lack before eventually getting the job done and taking over the race lead. Lack of course fought back but soon found both Kevin Titman and Lachlan McHugh, who had transferred from the B-Main, on his tail. Titman got underneath Lack and moved into second, with McHugh looking to follow him through, but Lack dove back underneath Titman, shutting the door on McHugh, as they rounded turn three with twelve laps left to run. The trio raced three-wide through turn four as they negotiated over second, with Titman leading them into turn one. McHugh and Lack traded places back and forth as they fought over the final podium position with Cody Maroske closing in behind. Maroske made heavy contact with the wall and brought the race to a stop with only four laps left to run. Lack raced around Titman when the race resumed and set his sights on Scheuerle, challenging the Australian Champion all the way to the line, while Titman tried to hold off the hard-charging McHugh. Andrew Scheuerle got the win with Peter Lack home in second and Lachlan McHugh snaring third. Kevin Titman crossed the line in fourth, with Michael Saller rounding out the top five. Bryan Mann rode a massive crash in the Q16 racer with just two and half laps completed. The wonderful people of the crash crew and trackside paramedics assisted him off the track and we wish him a very speedy recovery.
When qualifying got underway track conditions improved with each qualifying run. Cody Maroske, in the last group to qualify, managed to secure the quickest time, stopping the clock at 11.605 seconds on his final qualifying lap. Michael Saller locked in second quickest with a 11.661 second lap while young Aaron Kelly recorded an 11.871 second lap and finished third overall in the qualifying session. Mark Pholi and Darren Jensen rounded out the fastest five, while less than one second separated the top twenty-one drivers.
Heat one started with Brad Ayers and Richard Morgan from the front row and while the pair raced-side-by-side into turn one it was Morgan on the high side who managed to secure the race lead. Ayers settled into second while Ben Hilder settled into third ahead of Andrew Scheuerle and Bryan Mann. Mann came under enormous pressure from Kevin Titman while behind them Cody Maroske searched for a way past Karl Hoffmans. Titman was absolutely relentless on the back of Mann, the pair closing slightly on Scheuerle as the laps wore on with Maroske closing in fast. Maroske raced underneath Titman as they rounded turn four, with Titman firing straight back as they entered turn one. The pair raced either side of the lapped car of Libby Ellis, with Maroske on the bottom making contact with the front end of the NQ73 racer. Ellis came to a stop in turn two and brought the race under caution with four laps still to run. Morgan led the restart from Ayers and Hilder, while Mann restarted in fourth having got the better of Scheuerle. Scheuerle challenged Mann, as Mann challenged Hilder, but Kevin Titman came on strong, slipping underneath Scheuerle as they rounded turn four before turning his attention to Mann. Richard Morgan got the win, comfortably leading Brad Ayers and Ben Hilder across the line. Bryan Mann was fourth past the chequered flag, leading Kevin Titman, Andrew Scheuerle, Cody Maroske, Karl Hoffmans and Jason King home. Libby Ellis did not finish the race.
Brandon Hayes and Anthony Lambert shared the front row for the start of heat two, with Peter Lack and Lachlan McHugh right behind them. Lambert got a brilliant start and quickly secured the race lead, while McHugh did not let a broken left front shock slow him down, the Q23 racer powering around the top side of Haynes and into second before they hit turn two. Haynes faded quickly, while Peter Lack and Darren Jensen set out after McHugh and Lambert. Lack challenged McHugh, having several big but unsuccessful looks underneath the Q23 racer, while behind them Michael Saller was all over the back of Sean Rose. With two laps left to run the Q75 of Jensen slowed unexpectedly on the main straight, leaving Saller with nowhere to go. Heavy contact followed but fortunately both drivers were able to walk away. Lambert led the restart and easily got the win, while McHugh managed to hold off a hard-charging Peter Lack to finish second. Lack crossed the line third and led Sean Rose, Scott Genrich, Peter Campbell and Brandon Haynes across the line. Darren Jensen and Michael Saller did not finish the event.
Mitch Gowland started heat three from pole position with Dave Whell alongside and Kristy Bonsey and Brent Kratzmann sharing the second row. Whell was too quick for Gowland when the lights went green and quickly powered into the race lead, while Kratzmann from position four did not hesitate, following Whell into turn one and securing second ahead of Gowland and Bonsey. Mark Pholi was quick on the top side and quickly displaced Bonsey from fourth before turning his attention to Gowland, while deeper in the field good friends Trent Vardy and Aaron Kelly had a great battle for the minor positions. Allan Woods made his way past Kristy Bonsey and started closing in on Mitch Gowland, but ran out of laps and could not quite get the job done. Dave Whell took the win ahead of Brent Kratzmann and Mark Pholi, with Mitch Gowland, Allan Woods, Kristy Bonsey, Aaron Kelly, Des Collier and Trent Vardy rounding out the finishers.
Heat four started with Mitch Gowland and Kristy Bonsey sharing the front row, with Bonsey on the high side getting the better start and securing the race lead just moments after the green flag flew. Gowland settled into second while Kevin Titman made his way around Bryan Mann and began challenging Dave Whell for third. Lachlan McHugh raced around Mann before diving underneath Titman moments later before turning his focus to Whell. Titman tried to fight back, challenging McHugh and looking up the inside of Whell, while McHugh attempted to get around both Titman and Whell. McHugh rode the right rear of Whell as they rounded turn three, making heavy contact with the turn three wall and while he was able to keep the car going, he pulled onto the infield half a lap later. Bonsey had a commanding lead while Gowland was under increasing pressure from a very in-form Titman. Titman was absolutely relentless and while Gowland did not surrender without a fight, Titman eventually got through on the bottom and set out after Bonsey. Bonsey hesitated behind lapped traffic with Titman closing in fast and, within just a couple of laps, Titman was challenging for the race lead. Titman took to the high side and raced beautifully around Bonsey and the lapped car, with Bonsey following Titman around the outside. Kevin Titman got the win ahead of Kristy Bonsey, Bryan Mann, Dave Whell, Mitch Gowland, Mark Pholi, Brandon Haynes and Libby Ellis. Lachlan McHugh did not finish the event.
Heat five saw Sean Rose and Brad Ayers take the green from the front row, with Ayers securing the lead ahead of Ben Hilder, Sean Rose and Peter Lack. Lack was on a mission to get to the front and quickly displaced Rose, leaving Rose with Andrew Scheuerle on his tail, with Lack quickly closing in on Hilder. The Q5 racer took to the high side, powering around the top side of Hilder as they rounded turn four before turning his attention to Ayers and the race lead. In less than a lap Lack began searching for a way past the leader, while behind him Hilder was left to defend his position from Andrew Scheuerle, the pair putting on a spectacular show as they negotiated over the minor places. Lack searched high and low for a way past Ayers, patiently searching for the right opportunity racing up the inside of the NQ11 racer as they made their way through turn three. Peter Lack went on to take the win ahead of Brad Ayers, while Andrew Scheuerle held nothing back in his pursuit of Ben Hilder, eventually making his way into third by the fall of the chequered flag. Ben Hilder crossed the line in fourth and led Cody Maroske, Sean Rose, Scott Genrich, Peter Campbell and Jason King home.
The sixth and final heat of the night saw Karl Hoffmans and Richard Morgan lead the nine-car field to the green, with Morgan getting the better start and securing the lead. Hoffmans briefly held down second but soon surrendered the position to Michael Saller, with Hoffmans then coming under increasing pressure from Brent Kratzmann and Allan Woods. At the front of the field Saller closed in on Morgan, the N56 racer wasting no time when he caught the leader, racing around the top side as they made their way through turn four, taking control of the race and starting to open a small margin on his rivals. Woods had a big look up the inside of Kratzmann as they negotiated over mid-field positions with one lap left to run. Kratzmann managed to maintain his advantage and challenged Hoffmans as they rounded the final corner. Contact between the pair almost ended in disaster for both, with Hoffmans left stranded on the track. Michael Saller got the win ahead of Richard Morgan, with Allan Woods crossing the line in third. Anthony Lambert, Aaron Kelly, Brent Kratzmann, Des Collier, Trent Vardy and Karl Hoffmans rounded out the field.
The Bronze Shootout saw Aaron Kelly, Andrew Scheuerle, Allan Woods and Peter Lack race against the clock for the chance to advance to the Silver Shootout. Andrew Scheuerle secured the fastest time (11.911) with Peter Lack taking the second transfer after recording an 11.937 second lap. Allan Woods (12.198) and Aaron Kelly (12.265) were eliminated from the Shootout events.
Mark Pholi and Michael Saller joined Andrew Scheuerle and Peter Lack on track for the Silver Shootout, with Michael Saller this time taking top honours. Saller stopped the clock at 11.798 seconds with Peter Lack again scoring the second and final transfer after stopping the clock at 11.886 seconds. Andrew Scheuerle (11.970) and Mark Pholi (12.257) did not advance to the Gold Shootout.
For the Gold Shootout it was Kevin Titman and Cody Maroske who joined Michael Saller and Peter Lack on the track for the race against the clock. This time it was Peter Lack who secured the quickest time, a 11.875 second lap, and earn pole position for the main race. Kevin Titman stopped the clock at 12.098 and secured a front row start alongside Lack for the A-Main, with Cody Maroske (12.203) and Michael Saller (12.416) set to share the second row of the A-Main starting grid.
Anthony Lambert and Brad Ayers shared the front row for the start of the fifteen-lap B-Main and while they raced side-by-side into turn one, and Ayers soon secured the lead, Lachlan McHugh was on a mission to get to the front. McHugh took to the high side and with just half a lap completed raced around Lambert to secure second before turning his focus to Ayers and the race lead, catching the leader and racing through on the bottom as they competed the first lap. Sean Rose had a look around Anthony Lambert but ended up surrendering positions to Kristy Bonsey and Mitch Gowland in quick succession before the Q56 racer slowed to a stop with a flat right rear tyre. McHugh led the restart from Ayers and Lambert but all eyes were on Bonsey and Gowland as they fought over the final transfer position. Gowland was relentless as he searched for a way around the Q42 racer, but Bonsey held her own and denied Gowland at every opportunity. The race however was soon brought to a stop when a quartet of back markers came together in turn two. Trent Vardy and Peter Campbell came together, with Campbell inverting the NQ22 racer, while Karl Hoffmans and Des Collier also became involved, with Collier inverting the Q36 racer in spectacular fashion. Fortunately all drivers walked away from the incident, with both Campbell and Collier unable to restart the event. Lachlan McHugh led the field back to green light conditions and started opening a sizable lead, a lead that would ultimately extend to half a lap by the fall of the chequered flag, leaving the rest of the field to fight over the minor positions. Lachlan McHugh went on to take the win, as he was about to lap fifth place, an impressive 9.195 seconds ahead of second placed Brad Ayers. Anthony Lambert finished third while Kristy Bonsey held off the advances of Mitch Gowland to finish fourth and secure the final transfer to the A-Main. Mitch Gowland finished fifth and led Trent Vardy, Karl Hoffmans, Jason King and Libby Ellis across the line. Peter Campbell, Des Collier, Sean Rose and Brandon Haynes all failed to finish the event.
Peter Lack and Kevin Titman led the field of eighteen cars to the start of the thirty-lap A-Main event, with Cody Maroske, Michael Saller, Andrew Scheuerle and Mark Pholi close behind. Titman managed to secure the led when the green flag flew, but it was short-lived as Lack charged through on the bottom and took control before they entered the second corner of the race. Allan Woods and Aaron Kelly tried to race either side of Pholi, while behind them Richard Morgan made his way underneath Brent Kratzmann. Morgan and Kratzmann began challenging Woods, the trio racing three wide through turn three just moments before the race was brought to a sudden stop. Bryan Mann rode out a massive crash in turn three, getting considerable height in the Q16 racer before landing back on the track. The incredible people on the crash crew and the paramedics on scene helped Mann from the car, and reports from the team this morning say he has suffered a compression fracture to his T5 vertebrae.
With twenty-eight laps left to run Peter Lack led the restart from Kevin Titman and Cody Maroske, with Andrew Scheuerle, Michael Saller and Aaron Kelly close behind. Scheuerle spent just a lap or two chasing Maroske before sliding through on the bottom and taking over third and setting his sights on Titman and Lack. Lachlan McHugh was carving his way through the field, a big task from the back of a quality line up, and quickly displaced both Ben Hilder and Brent Kratzmann before getting underneath Allan Woods a lap later. While McHugh kept moving forward, with Richard Morgan and Mark Pholi next in his line of sight, Kratzmann and Hilder had a thrilling battle mid-field and the leaders began navigating lapped traffic. Titman and Scheuerle closed in on Lack with each passing lap, with Scheuerle having a particularly impressive run on the bottom, slipping up the inside of Titman as they raced down the back straight before having a massive look underneath Lack as they rounded turn four. Scheuerle managed to get his nose in front as they raced down the main straight, but Lack was determined and fought back valiantly on the top side, regaining the lead less than half a lap later and leaving Scheuerle with Titman on his tail. Lack led for another few laps, despite the pressure from Scheuerle, but Scheuerle eventually got through on the bottom and took control of the race. Lack soon found Titman and McHugh on his tail, with Titman slipping underneath the Q5 racer and into second. McHugh looked underneath Lack, but Lack shut the door, diving back underneath Titman to regain second moments before the trio raced three-wide through turn four with twelve laps left to run. Titman was the first of the trio to turn one, leaving Lack and McHugh to fight over third, as Maroske began closing in and started challenging for a podium position of his own. Maroske managed to get ahead of McHugh for a couple of laps before McHugh made his way back in front, with McHugh and Lack then exchanging positions back and forth a couple of times. Maroske hit the wall in turn three, inverting the Q22 racer with only four laps left to run. He walked away from the wreck but was unable to continue the race.
Andrew Scheuerle led the restart from Kevin Titman and Peter Lack with Lachlan McHugh in fourth. Lack seemed re-energised on the start and quickly took to the high line racing around Titman and into second before starting to challenge Scheuerle for the race lead. Andrew Scheuerle got the win with Peter Lack across the line in second while Lachlan McHugh got the better of Kevin Titman with one lap left to run. Lachlan McHugh finished third ahead of Kevin Titman with Michael Saller rounding out the top five. Mark Pholi crossed the line sixth and led Aaron Kelly, Richard Morgan, Allan Woods, Brent Kratzmann, Ben Hilder, Anthony Lambert and Kristy Bonsey past the chequered flag. Cody Maroske, Dave Whell, Scott Genrich, Brad Ayers and Bryan Mann all failed to finish the action-packed affair.

What an epic night of Sprintcar racing! Andrew Scheuerle eventually got the win the A-Main after taking control from early leader Peter Lack. A three-wide battle for second with twelve laps left to run kept things exciting, and a restart with only four laps left to run made for a thrilling conclusion as Lack challenged Scheuerle all the way to the line. Peter Lack finished second while Kevin Titman had a brilliant drive in the Q59 racer and spent most of the race inside the top three, only to surrender third to a very hard-charging Lachlan McHugh as the race drew to a close. McHugh had transferred from the B-Main before weaving his way through the field to steal the final podium position, leaving Titman in fourth. Michael Saller rounded out the top five. Bryan Mann had a particularly big crash in turn three just two laps into the race and received attention from the paramedics at the track. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank the wonderful people of the crash crew for all they do looking after our drivers.

Peter Lack had an absolutely phenomenal run in the shootout events, advancing from the bronze shootout, through the silver shootout and eventually getting the win in the Gold Shootout and earning pole potion for tonight’s A-Main. Kevin Titman finished second and will share the front for the start of the A-Main with Lack, while Cody Maroske and Michael Saller will share the second row for the start of the A-Main after finishing third and fourth respectively in the Gold Shootout.
Lachlan McHugh wasted no time when the green flag flew to start the B-Main, quickly advancing to the race lead with barely a lap completed. McHugh went on to open a massive lead and get the win, having crossed the line, as he was about to lap fifth place, with a half a lap margin on second placed Brad Ayers. Anthony Lambert finished a strong third while Kristy Bonsey held off an early challenge from Mitch Gowland to cross the line in fourth and secure the final transfer to the A-Main.

Kristy Bonsey led the first part of heat four, opening a comfortable margin on the rest of the field until lapped traffic came into play. Kevin Titman had a brilliant run, making his way forward before taking control of the race with a big outside passing move in lapped traffic. Titman got the win ahead of Bonsey, with Bryan Mann rounding out the top three. Lachlan McHugh made heavy contact with the wall early in the race and pulled out of the event half a lap later.
Brad Ayers led the first half of heat five before succumbing to pressure from Peter Lack. Lack was spectacular in the Q5 racer and went on to open a sizeable lead before taking the win ahead of Ayers, while Andrew Scheuerle eventually got the better of Ben Hilder to finish third.
Michael Saller, back on track after his earlier incident, got the win in heat six ahead of early leader Richard Morgan. The battle for third raged fiercely with Karl Hoffman valiantly holding off a determined Brent Kratzmann for most of the race. Contact between the pair as they approached the chequered flag left Hoffmans stranded within sight of the finish line, Kratzmann fading back to sixth and Allan Woods inheriting third.

Richard Morgan easily got the win in heat one tonight, leading Brad Ayers and Ben Hilder across the line. Bryan Mann finished while Kevin Titman had a great run from deep in the field crossing the line fifth ahead of Andrew Scheuerle and Cody Maroske.
Anthony Lambert dominated in heat two, withstanding pressure from Lachlan McHugh for most of the race. McHugh, who broke a left front shock before taking the green, came under unrelenting pressure from Peter Lack, but McHugh hung on to finish second ahead of Peter Lack. Michael Saller was challenging Sean Rose for position when he collided with a slowing Darren Jensen, with both Jensen and Saller unable to restart the race.
Dave Whell got the jump from the front row when the lights went green for heat three, quickly securing the race lead before going on to take the win. Brent Kratzmann followed Whell on the start and secured second with Mark Pholi eventually crossing the line in third. At the back of the field Aaron Kelly and Trent Vardy had a thrilling battle for the minor places until a mistake from Vardy in turn two saw him lose ground late in the race.

Kicking Up The Dirt – ECL Series – Round 15
Last night Ausdeck Patios and Roofing Archerfield Speedway played host to Round Fifteen of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series, with Andrew Scheuerle taking the win in a thrilling final. With double points on the line last night, and the absence of his nearest rival in the local series, Scheuerle has also wrapped up the East Coast Logistics Series with two nights still to run. The battle for the minor places in the series though is really heating up with Allan Woods, Peter Lack, Brent Kratzmann and Kevin Titman all vying for the minor places. Last night Peter Lack led the main race early, before surrendering control to Andrew Scheuerle as they made their way through lapped traffic, while Lachlan McHugh climbed his way back to third after fading on the start. McHugh and Lack battled for most of the race, with Lack eventually pulling slightly ahead and having a bold but ultimately unsuccessful look around the outside of Scheuerle in an effort to regain control of the race. Lack had one last look up the inside of Scheuerle as they rounded the final two corners but could not quite get the job done, while McHugh took advantage of the clear track on the top side, and raced around Lack on the final corner to steal second moments before they crossed the line. Andrew Scheuerle got the win ahead of Lachlan McHugh and Peter Lack, while Kevin Titman and Brent Kratzmann both had phenomenal runs to cross the line fourth and fifth respectively.
Mitchell Gee got his night off to a great start, recording the quickest qualifying lap, stopping the clock at 11.356 seconds. Andrew Scheuerle was second quickest with a 11.510 second lap while Peter Lack was just six thousandths of a second slower at 11.516 seconds. Lack secured third overall in the qualifying session, beating Lachlan McHugh by just 0.001 seconds. McHugh stopped the clock at 11.517 seconds to finish qualifying in fourth while Bryan Mann (11.651) rounded out the fastest five. The top twelve cars were all able to get into the eleven-second bracket, while the top twenty were separated by less than one second. Anthony Lambert beat Randy Morgan by three thousandths of a second, while Des Collier beat Brad Ayers by the same margin, and Blake Darcy beat Allan Woods by just 0.001 seconds.
Heat one started with Allan Woods and Blake Darcy sharing the front row with Woods getting a brilliant start and quickly securing the lead ahead of Darcy and Darren Jensen. Brent Kratzmann and Aaron Kelly raced side-by-side for most of the opening lap before Kratzmann on the top side was able to pull ahead, setting his sights on Anthony Lambert and quickly switching to the bottom to and get underneath the Q90 racer. As Kratzmann searched high and low for a way past Lambert, Mitchell Gee closed in from behind and began searching for his own way past. Gee showed his nose underneath Kratzmann as they rounded turn four, and promptly surrendered a position to Scott Genrich, but the race was soon brought under caution when Karl Hoffmans spun in turn two and was collected by Aaron Kelly. Woods led the restart from Darcy and Jensen with three laps left to run, with Jensen soon getting underneath Darcy to take over second, while Kratzmann continued to try and find a way past Lambert and simultaneously defend his position from a hard-charging Scott Genrich. Allan Woods got the win ahead of Darren Jensen and Blake Darcy. Anthony Lambert managed to hang on to finish fourth and lead Brent Kratzmann, Scott Genrich, Mitchell Gee, Aaron Kelly, Karl Hoffmans and Geoff Davey across the line.
Kevin Britten and Mitch Gowland shared the front row for the start of heat two, with Gowland quicker off the mark when the lights went green, the Q32 racer immediately securing the race lead ahead of Britten and Ryan McNamara. Unfortunately McNamara spun the Q88 racer in turn two and brought the race under caution. A full restart followed with McNamara now from the back of the field and while at the front of the field Britten got a better start second time around, Gowland was still too quick on the top side. Gowland quickly settled into the race lead ahead of Britten and Bryan Mann, while Steve Greer managed to get underneath Randy Morgan as they made their way through turn two. Morgan surrendered a position to Andrew Scheuerle half a lap later, while towards the rear of the field McNamara and Jason King negotiated over track position, the pair exchanging positions several times as the race wore on. Mann made his way past Britten and set about trying to close the gap to Gowland, while Scheuerle and Morgan both closed in on Greer and began challenging for mid-field positions. Mann had incredible speed in the #16 racer and quickly caught Gowland before racing through on the bottom and into the race lead with just a couple of laps left to run. Bryan Mann got the win ahead of Mitch Gowland and Andrew Scheuerle, with Kevin Britten fourth across the line. Steve Greer finished fifth and led Randy Morgan, Des Collier, Jason King, Ryan McNamara and Libby Ellis across the line.
Heat three started with Peter Campbell from pole position with Kristy Bonsey alongside. When the green flag flew Campbell and Bonsey raced side-by-side into turn one, neither willing to relinquish control of the race. Campbell was quick on the bottom and managed to get his nose in front as they exited turn one but Bonsey was exceptional on the top side, racing around the high side of Campbell and into the race lead as they rounded turn two and headed down the back straight. Bonsey led them into turn three but Campbell fought back on the bottom and regained the race lead as they came out of turn four, only for Bonsey to move to the low line and challenge Campbell once more. Moments later the race was brought under caution for the spun car of Michael Saller just moments before the leaders completed the first lap, necessitating a full restart. Bonsey got the jump second time around, with Ben Hilder quickly displacing Campbell, but officials quickly brought the race under caution and penalised Bonsey for jumping the start. Hilder inherited the front row alongside Campbell for the third attempt at a start, and while Campbell was again quick off the mark as the lights went green, it was Hilder who powered around the top side and secured the lead. Kevin Titman raced around Campbell as they made their way through turn two to secure second and set his sights on Hilder, while Peter Lack got the better of Lachlan McHugh on the start before slipping underneath Bonsey with less than half a lap complete. While McHugh made his way underneath Bonsey, Lack took the high side to get around Campbell before closing in on Titman and challenging the Q59 racer for second. Lack was mesmerising on the top side, racing two abreast with Titman for a lap before the Q5 racer was able to pull ahead and set out after Hilder. McHugh made his way past Campbell and began closing in on Titman, eventually getting underneath the #59 racer as they rounded turn three, before McHugh set his sights on Lack, closing in but unable to get close enough to make a move. Ben Hilder got the win ahead of Peter Lack and Lachlan McHugh, with Kevin Titman home in fourth and leading Michael Saller, Peter Campbell, Kristy Bonsey, Nick Whell and Sean Rose across the line.
Kristy Bonsey and Blake Darcy shared the front row for the start of heat four, with Bonsey securing the advantage as they raced into turn one. Mid-field Ben Hilder got the better of Brent Kratzmann before taking to the high side to try and get around Mitch Gowland and Anthony Lambert, while Peter Lack was quick on the bottom, quickly displacing both Kratzmann and Gowland as they completed the first lap. Kratzmann immediately switched to the bottom, following Lack underneath Gowland before getting underneath Lack less than half a lap later. Kratzmann closed in on Hilder and Lambert, with Lack on his tail, with Lack having a brief look on the inside of the Q2 racer as they rounded turn four. Kratzmann worked the bottom beautifully and got underneath Hilder before beginning to challenge Lambert, while behind him Scott Genrich managed to get underneath Lack. Lack fought back on the high side of Genrich, the pair racing side-by-side as they negotiated over the minor places, while Kratzmann found his way past Lambert and was starting to close in on Darcy. Kratzmann spent several laps closing the gap to the #48 of Darcy but with just one lap left to run Kratzmann made his move and slipped into second. Kristy Bonsey was untroubled out in front, taking the win with a quarter of a lap margin over Brent Kratzmann in second. Blake Darcy came home in third and led Anthony Lambert, Ben Hilder, Scott Genrich, Peter Lack, Mitch Gowland, Geoff Davey and Karl Hoffmans past the chequered flag.
Heat five started with Kevin Britten from pole position with Michael Saller alongside. Britten got a brilliant start and quickly secured the lead while Allan Woods, from position three, was quick to follow Britten in an effort to get the better of Saller. Saller though was not prepared to settle for third and fought back hard on the high side, getting the better of Woods and staying with Britten as the pair started to pull away from the rest of the field. Aaron Kelly came under pressure from both Steve Greer and Andrew Scheuerle, with Kelly refusing to surrender his position when Greer had a big look on the inside of the immaculately presented Q7 racer. Mitchell Gee was exceptional in the V3 racer and carried significant speed on the low line, racing underneath both Scheuerle and Greer as they headed down the main straight before turning his focus to Kelly. A small error for Gee in turn two allowed Greer to race back around the high side, while at the front of the field Woods had again got the better of Saller and was all over the back Britten as they fought for the race lead. Woods was attempting a spectacular outside passing move through turn three when he rode the right rear of Britten and ended up making heavy contact with the wall entering turn four, bringing the race under caution and spelling the end of his race. Britten led the restart from Aaron Kelly and Steve Greer, with Michael Saller, who was scheduled to restart in second, pulling out of the event with a flat left rear tyre. Gee spent just one lap searching for a way past Greer before slipping through on the bottom of turn two, with the V3 racer setting his focus on catching Kelly in second. It took a few laps but Gee was on a mission and soon not only caught Kelly, but slipped through on the inside of Kelly with less than half a lap left to run. Kevin Britten got the win ahead of Mitchell Gee and Aaron Kelly, with Andrew Scheuerle home in fourth ahead of Steve Greer, Sean Rose, Des Collier and Libby Ellis. Michael Saller and Allan Woods both failed to finish the event.
Ryan McNamara inherited pole position for the start of heat six when Peter Campbell slowed to a stop before taking the green. Campbell was able to restart but was relegated to the rear of the field to take the green, leaving McNamara and Randy Morgan from the front row. McNamara got a brilliant start and quickly secured the race lead while Morgan settled into second ahead of Kevin Titman. Titman quickly came under pressure from a hard-charging Lachlan McHugh with McHugh searching the high side for a way around the Q59 racer with no success. McHugh switched to the low line and, a lap later, managed to get underneath both Titman and Morgan as they rounded turn four. Titman and Morgan raced side-by-side, with Titman on the top side prevailing and eventually moving ahead of Morgan, while behind them Bryan Mann and Darren Jensen fought over the minor positions. McHugh quickly eroded the lead McNamara had built up and, within just a few laps was challenging the Q88 racer for the race lead. Lachlan McHugh went on to take the win ahead of Ryan McNamara and Kevin Titman, with Randy Morgan, Darren Jensen, Jason King, Bryan Mann, Peter Campbell and Nick Whell rounding out the finishers.
The Dash event started with Mitchell Gee and Peter Lack sharing the front row, with Ben Hilder and Andrew Scheuerle right behind them. While both Gee and Lack got a brilliant start when the lights went green, the pair remaining two abreast until Lack emerged in front as they exited the second corner, the race was quickly brought under caution when Bryan Mann came to a stop in turn two. Gee led them into turn one the second time around but Lack was mesmerising on the top side and raced around the high line, challenging Gee as they rounded turn two and headed down the back straight into turn three. Lack persisted on the top side, securing the lead as he and Gee completed the first lap, while behind them Hilder and Scheuerle were fighting over third and fourth as Lachlan McHugh closed in. McHugh made his way past Hilder, leaving Hilder to try and defend his position from a determined Titman, while McHugh set out after Scheuerle. Peter Lack got the win ahead of Mitchell Gee, while Andrew Scheuerle crossed the line in third despite a strong challenge from McHugh late in the race. Lachlan McHugh finished fourth ahead of Ben Hilder, Kevin Titman, Bryan Mann and Brent Kratzmann.
Fifteen cars lined up for the start of the fifteen-lap B-Main event, with Kevin Britten and Randy Morgan to lead them to the green. Britten got the jump when the green flag flew, with Morgan settling into second ahead of Blake Darcy. Allan Woods and Mitch Gowland began negotiating over the final transfer position before Woods secured fourth and turned his attention to Darcy. Scott Genrich got underneath Gowland and Darcy as Michael Saller closed in, while deeper in the field Des Collier and Jason King traded places back a forth as they raced for minor positions. Saller had an intense battle with Peter Campbell as the pair tried to find a way past Gowland, while at the front of the field Morgan and Woods had a close battle as they closed in on Britten. Darcy slowed to a stop in turn four with just nine laps completed and brought the race under caution. Britten led the restart from Morgan and Woods with Genrich sitting in the final transfer position. When the lights went green Saller took to the high side to displace Genrich from fourth, while Morgan too took to the high side in an effort to move into the race lead. Saller got underneath Woods half a lap later but it was not long before Woods took his position back. Randy Morgan eventually got the better of Kevin Britten and took the win, with Britten home in second ahead of Allan Woods. Michael Saller managed to secure fourth and earn his place in the A-Main, while Scott Genrich was forced to settle for fifth. Peter Campbell crossed the line sixth and led Nick Whell, Jason King, Mitch Gowland, Libby Ellis, Karl Hoffmans, Sean Rose and Des Collier home. Geoff Davey and Blake Darcy did not finish the event.
The thrilling thirty-lap A-Main, which ran from green to chequer without a stoppage, started with Peter Lack and Mitchell Gee from the front row, with Current Australian Campion Andrew Scheuerle from position three and newly-crowned Queensland Champion Lachlan McHugh from position four. Lack led the field into turn one, with Gee in second ahead of Scheuerle, while McHugh faded a little as a hard-charging and determined Kevin Titman slipped through underneath the Q23 racer as they rounded turn two. McHugh was challenged by Ben Hilder and they came through turn two, while Titman turned his attention to Scheuerle before being forced on the defensive as McHugh edged closer. Scheuerle made his way past Gee, leaving Gee with both McHugh and Titman on his tail, while behind them Brent Kratzmann searched for a way past Bryan Mann. Allan Woods was making truly impressive progress in the Q28 after transferring from the B-Main, challenging Anthony Lambert and Steve Greer for mid-field positions, while closer to the front McHugh had found his way past Gee and was challenging Scheuerle for second. Aaron Kelly and Anthony Lambert had a thrilling battle as they negotiated over minor positions mid-field, while Brent Kratzmann and Bryan Mann raced side-by-side as they tried to find a way past Ben Hilder. Kratzmann had a mesmerising run on the bottom, securing the advantage over both Mann and Hilder as they rounded turn four before quickly putting a couple of car lengths between himself and those now behind him. Lapped traffic came into play with Scheuerle and McHugh closing in on the back of Lack, the trio having a captivating battle for the race lead, with Scheuerle getting underneath Lack as they rounded turn four and taking over the race lead. Lack fought back on the high side but could not quite get the job done, while McHugh closed in heavy lapped traffic. McHugh made his way underneath Lack as they came out of turn four, taking second before challenging Scheuerle for the lead less than half a lap later, while Lack raced back around the top side, regaining second and instigating his own challenge for the race lead. Scheuerle and Lack raced side-by-side for several laps before Scheuerle again pulled ever so slightly ahead, leaving Lack with McHugh right on his tail. With half a lap left to run Lack had another bold look underneath Scheuerle as they headed into turn three, while McHugh took to the high line, the Q23 racer getting around the outside of Lack as they exited the final corner of the race. Andrew Scheuerle got the win ahead of Lachlan McHugh in second and Peter Lack rounding out the podium in third. Kevin Titman crossed the line in fourth ahead of Brent Kratzmann, Mitchell Gee, Ben Hilder, Bryan Mann and Anthony Lambert. Allan Woods finished an impressive tenth after transferring from the B-Main, with Darren Jensen, Michael Saller, Randy Morgan, Kristy Bonsey, Aaron Kelly, Kevin Britten, Steve Greer and Ryan McNamara rounding out the finishers.
Sprintcars Queensland will return to Ausdeck Patios and Roofing Archerfield Speedway in two weeks time, on Saturday 25 May 2019, as the battle for the minor positions in the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series intensifies. See you there!

Heat four saw Kristy Bonsey easily lead the entire ten-lap journey, taking the win with a sizeable margin on her rivals. Brent Kratzmann had an intense battle with Peter Lack early in the the race before not only securing the advantage on Lack, but moving through and challenging Blake Darcy for second. Kratzmann got the better of Darcy with one lap left to run and secured second with Darcy home in third.
Kevin Britten got the win in heat two, while Mitchell Gee stole second from Aaron Kelly as they rounded the final corner, with Gee crossing the line in second and Kelly home in third. Allan Woods had made his way into second and was challenging Britten for control of the race when contact between the pair left Woods in the fence, and out of the event, with just over half the race left to run.
Ryan McNamara led the first half of heat six before surrendering the lead to Lachlan McHugh. McHugh went on to take the win ahead of McNamara with Kevin Titman home in third.

Allan Woods dominated in heat one, leading all ten laps and easily taking the win ahead of Darren Jensen, who eventually got the better of Blake Darcy, leaving Darcy in third. Brent Kratzmann spent most of the race chasing Anthony Lambert while Mitchell Gee soon joined the pair in an intense mid-field battle.
Mitch Gowland lead the first half of heat two but Bryan Mann came on strong late in the race, taking control with only a handful of laps left to run. Mann got the win ahead of Mitch Gowland and Andrew Scheuerle.
Heat three endured a couple of false starts but it was Ben Hilder who eventually secured the lead. Peter Lack and Kevin Titman raced side-by-side for a couple of laps before Lack moved ahead and set out after Hilder, leaving Titman to try and defend his position from a hard-charging Lachlan McHugh. Ben Hilder got the win ahead of Peter Lack and Lachlan McHugh, with Kevin Titman home in fourth.

Kicking Up The Dirt – Queensland Title
Lachlan McHugh got a hard-fought win in the Queensland Sprintcar Title at Hi-Tec-Oils Toowoomba Speedway last night, racing to victory after starting back in tenth position. It really was a truly EPIC feature event, full of passing, with an intense four-way battle for the lead over the final ten laps, several lead changes and some thrilling battles all the way through the field. Defending Queensland Champion Mitchell Gee finished second, having led briefly late in the race, while Marcus Dumesny finished third and rounded out the Queensland Title podium. Danny Reidy had a phenomenal run to finish fourth, after a captivating battle with Michael Saller, while Bryan Mann got the better of Saller in the final few laps of the race to finish fifth. Andrew Scheuerle led the first twenty-seven laps of the race quite comfortably but faded to seventh by the fall of the chequered flag as a Gee, McHugh and Dumesny made their way in front and fought over the lead.
The night started off-song for Kevin Titman, who, along with his hard-working team, completed an engine change between engine starts and hot laps, while Randy Morgan had a rough start to the Queensland Title, setting the second quickest hot lapping time before making heavy contact with the wall coming out of turn four and inverting the Q54 racer in spectacular fashion. Morgan walked away from the wreck and while he missed qualifying, the team put in an enormous effort to get him back trackside for his first heat.
Qualifying got underway and while Aaron Kelly set the benchmark early, stopping the clock at an impressive 10.589 seconds, it was Australian Sprintcar Champion Andrew Scheuerle who not only secured quick time in qualifying, but lowered the one-lap record from 10.498 seconds (as set by Luke Oldfield just over a year ago) to 10.482 seconds. Marcus Dumesny was second quickest in qualifying last night, his 10.537 second lap just 0.055 seconds slower than Scheuerle, while Brent Kratzmann was just 0.026 seconds behind Dumesny when he stopped the clock at 10.563 seconds and secured third quickest of the twenty-nine cars. Aaron Kelly was fourth quick, an impressive effort for his first Sprintcar Queensland Title, while Bryan Mann rounded out the fastest five. Luke Oldfield beat Kevin Titman by just two thousandths of a second, while deeper in the field Geoff Davey beat Anthony Vanderreyden by the same tiny margin. The top twenty-five cars were separated by just 0.839 seconds, while the fastest fourteen were all inside the ten-second bracket, making for an extremely tough night of competition.
Heat one saw Anthony Vanderreyden and Mark Pholi share the front row for the start, and while Vanderreyden briefly secured the advantage when the lights went green, Pholi soon raced beautifully around the outside and into the race lead. Deeper in the field Luke Oldfield was beginning to make his way forward, taking to the high line to get around Anthony Lambert before setting his sights on Kevin Titman. Titman closed in on Vanderreyden, putting all kinds of pressure on the Q72 racer before eventually getting around the outside as they made their way through turns three and four, with Oldfield following a lap later. Mitchell Gee was having an impressive run on the top side in the V3 racer, battling over mid-field positions with both Lambert and Aaron Kelly, but the race was brought under caution with just two laps left to run when Lambert made heavy contact with the wall exiting turn four and tore the rear end out of the Q90 racer. Lambert managed to keep the car from rolling but was unable to continue the race. Pholi led the restart from Titman and Oldfield, and while Pholi got a great start when the race resumed Titman was determined and charged on the bottom, having a big look underneath Pholi as they fought over the race lead. Pholi managed to maintain the lead while Titman had a quick look on the top side before sliding underneath Pholi as they rounded the final corner of the race, with Oldfield right on his tail. Kevin Titman got the win ahead of Luke Oldfield, Mark Pholi, Mitchell Gee, Anthony Vanderreyden, Andrew Scheuerle, Michael Saller and Jason King. Anthony Lambert did not finish the event.
Geoff Davey and Karl Hoffmans led the field to the green for the start of heat two, and while Davey initially secured the lead the officials soon brought the race under caution, sending Davey back one row for jumping the start. Ben Hilder was elevated to pole position for the restart and quickly secured the race lead when the green flag flew, while Peter Lack raced underneath Hoffmans to move into second, just as the race was brought under caution for the spun car of Davey in turn two. Another full restart followed with Hilder again securing the lead. Hoffmans settled into second but immediately came under pressure from Mitch Gowland who was trying to advance on the low side, while behind them Allan Woods and Peter Lack negotiated over the minor positions. Lack took to the high side and raced exquisitely around both Woods and Gowland before switching to the bottom and getting underneath Hoffmans as they rounded turns one and two. Davey again brought the race under caution, spinning the NQ74 racer, leaving Sean Rose nowhere to go. Hilder led the restart while Lack chased after Hoffmans, and Woods, Gowland and Marcus Dumesny negotiated over positions behind them. Woods and Dumesny made their way past Gowland, leaving Gowland to try and defend his position from Bryan Mann, while Woods and Dumesny had a truly brilliant battle as they tried to find a way past Hoffmans. Dumesny looped the #40 racer but managed to keep it moving, and while he lost ground on Woods the race was soon brought under caution when Gowland spun to a stop. Hilder again led the restart from Lack and Hoffmans and while the leaders were able to open a small margin on those behind them, it was hard not to watch Woods and Dumesny as they exchanged positions back and forth with four laps to go. Dumesny had an unsuccessful look underneath Woods, with Woods soon trying get underneath Hoffmans, only for Hoffmans to deny him a way through. Woods and Dumesny were unrelenting though, captivating the crowd until Dumesny again looped the car and lost ground on Woods once more. Lack closed in on Hilder as they raced closer to the chequered flag but it was Ben Hilder who got the win ahead of Peter Lack and Allan Woods. Bryan Mann finished fourth ahead of Karl Hoffmans, Marcus Dumesny, Libby Ellis, Mitch Gowland, Sean Rose and Geoff Davey.
When heat three got underway all eyes were on Kristy Bonsey as she raced boldly underneath the pole-sitter just as the lights went green, racing spectacularly into the race lead from position three. Danny Reidy, from position five, was quick to challenge Bonsey though, having quickly displaced the other rivals, with Reidy soon taking control of the race. Nathan Black faded quickly and found himself in a tense battle with Brent Kratzmann, while Lachlan McHugh and Aaron Kelly battled mid-field. The race was brought to a stop just four laps in when Brent Kratzmann hit the wall and spectacularly inverted the immaculately presented Q2 racer, rolling several times down the main straight. Fortunately Kratzmann was able to walk away from the wreck, but was sadly unable to continue the race. Danny Reidy led the restart from Blake Darcy and Lachlan McHugh. McHugh took to the high line and began searching for a way around Darcy, eventually getting the job done as they raced through turn two a few laps into the restart. McHugh set his sights on Reidy and race lead with only four laps left to run, starting to close in on the #5 racer as the laps wore on. McHugh had a brief and unsuccessful look underneath Reidy as they rounded the final corner, but it was Danny Reidy who got the win ahead of Lachlan McHugh and Blake Darcy when the chequered flag flew. Aaron Kelly crossed the line an impressive fourth, leading Kristy Bonsey, Nathan Black, Nicholas Whell and Jai Stephenson across the line. Brent Kratzmann did not finish the event, while Randy Morgan, back after his earlier crash, pulled out of the event before taking the green.
Jai Stephenson and Blake Darcy led the field to the green for the start of heat four, with Darcy securing the lead ahead of Stephenson and Peter Lack. Brent Kratzmann, back trackside after his huge crash in the earlier heat, was mesmerising on the high side as he raced around Nicholas Whell and Lachlan McHugh, while McHugh was looking to move forward from the rear of the field. Lack started putting pressure on Stephenson but the race was brought to a stop for Brent Kratzmann who had slowed to a stop on the bottom of turn four. Darcy led the restart from Stephenson, Lack and Mitchell Gee, with Lack quickly racing underneath Stephenson when the lights went green and stealing second. The race however was soon brought under caution, with Darcy eventually penalised two positions for hitting the cone on the last restart, handing control of the race to Lack. Lack led them back to green light conditions with five laps left to run. Gee was spectacular on the high side of Lachlan McHugh, taking the V3 racer to the high side and racing around McHugh before switching to the bottom and sliding beautifully underneath Darcy. Darcy fought back and regained his position from Gee, with McHugh following him through but Mitchell Gee was not done and again fought back to regain the position. Peter Lack got the win ahead of Jai Stephenson with Mitchell Gee securing third. Blake Darcy crossed the line fourth ahead of Lachlan McHugh, Andrew Scheuerle, Brent Kratzmann, Nicholas Whell and Libby Ellis.
Jason King started heat five from pole position with Karl Hoffmans alongside, the leading duo racing side-by-side through the opening corners before Hoffmans managed to secure the lead. Ben Hilder made his way into second while Allan Woods raced around King and into the top three. Luke Oldfield again took the high line, quickly displacing both Mark Pholi and Jason King, while Marcus Dumesny made impressive progress forward and became embroiled in an intense battle with Oldfield as they battled over fourth and fifth. Hoffmans had control of the race but was under enormous pressure from Hilder, the pair putting on a spectacular show as they negotiated over control of the race, the lead changing several times while behind them Woods and Dumesny switched places a couple of times as they fought over the minor positions. Hilder took control from Hoffmans, leaving Hoffmans to try and defend his position from both Woods and Dumesny, but Dumesny was in magnificent form and soon got the better of both Woods and Hoffmans and set out after Hilder. Dumesny, who had started from position eight, slid underneath Hilder and took over the race lead, while Luke Oldfield began closing in on Woods and Hilder. Woods and Hilder had a thrilling battle for second and third, while Oldfield had a bold but ultimately unsuccessful look up the inside of Woods as they rounded the final corner. Marcus Dumesny got the win ahead of Ben Hilder and Allan Woods, with Luke Oldfield home in fourth and leading Danny Reidy, Karl Hoffmans, Mark Pholi and Jason King across the line.
The final heat of the night started with Anthony Vanderreyden and Nathan Black sharing the front row, with Vanderreyden securing the lead when the lights went green. From deep in the field Michael Saller took to the high line, making impressive progress forward before being momentarily caught behind Nathan Black. Kevin Titman climbed over the right rear of the car in front, while Mitch Gowland made his way underneath Vanderreyden, both drivers having already surrendered positions to Saller, with Kevin Titman soon racing around Vanderreyden and beginning to challenge Gowland once more before making his way around the top side. Aaron Kelly started closing in on both Titman and Gowland, the teenager challenging Gowland for a lap or two before making his way through on the bottom and setting his sights on Titman with two laps to run. Michael Saller got the win, from position six, with Kevin Titman home in second ahead of an impressive Aaron Kelly. Mitch Gowland crossed the line in fourth and led Bryan Mann, Nathan Black, Anthony Vanderreyden, Kristy Bonsey, Geoff Davey and Sean Rose past the chequered flag.
The Bronze Shootout hit the track with Bryan Mann, Mitchell Gee, Allan Woods and Kevin Titman taking to the track for a couple of qualifying laps. Allan Woods was the quickest of the quartet, stopping the clock at 11.352 seconds, with Mitchell Gee second quickest (11.547) and doing enough to advance to the Silver Shootout. Kevin Titman (12.022) and Bryan Mann (12.114) were eliminated from the Shootout events.
Andrew Scheuerle and Michael Saller (who replaced an engine in the N56 racer after the heats events concluded) joined Allan Woods and Mitchell Gee on track for the Silver Shootout. Andrew Scheuerle this time locked in the quickest time, an 11.537 second lap, while Mitchell Gee again managed to secure a transfer, his 11.969 second lap enough to beat both Allan Woods (12.112) and Michael Saller (12.125). Woods and Saller would start the main race from positions five and six respectively.
The Gold Shootout rolled onto the track with Marcus Dumesny the highest points scorer of the night ahead of young Aaron Kelly. Dumesny and Kelly joined Andrew Scheuerle and Mitchell Gee on track but it was Marcus Dumesny who secured the quickest time (11.324) and secured pole position for the Title race. Aaron Kelly, in his first Sprintcar Queensland Title and first Sprintcar race meeting at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway, stopped the clock at 11.745 seconds to earn a front row start for the main race. Andrew Scheuerle would start from position three after locking in a 12.038 second lap in the Gold Shootout, while Mitchell Gee, who spun to a stop before completing a lap in the Gold Shootout and was subsequently eliminated from the event, would start the main race from position four.
Mark Pholi and Kristy Bonsey led the field to the green for the start of the twelve lap B-Main event, with Pholi quickly securing the lead when the green flag flew. Nicholas Whell settled into second while Nathan Black took to the high side in an effort to move forward through turn four. Jai Stephenson and Karl Hoffmans came together in turn four while negotiating over track position, leaving both Anthony Lambert and Anthony Vanderreyden nowhere to go. Unfortunately Vanderreyden suffered front end damage in the incident which ended his race, with Hoffmans also unable to restart. Pholi led the restart from Whell and Bonsey with eleven laps still to run, with Bonsey coming under increasing pressure from Black. Whell closed in a little on Pholi but it was hard not to watch the battle behind the leaders as they argued over the final transfer spots. Bonsey sat in third with both Black and Jason King on her tail, but a spin in turn four with just five laps left to run saw Bonsey bring the race under caution and surrender her spot in the A-Main. Bonsey restarted at the rear of the field while Pholi, Whell, Black and King led them back to green light conditions. Whell had a bold look underneath Pholi as they negotiated over the race lead, almost managed to take control of the race, but Pholi fought back on the top side. Jai Stephenson started making his way forward, edging closer to a transfer position, while Jason King made his way underneath Nathan Black. Black surrendered a position to Stephenson, who then started searching for a way past King. Mark Pholi got the win ahead of Nicholas Whell and Jai Stephenson with Jason King securing the final transfer position. Libby Ellis crossed the line an impressive fifth, only narrowly missing out on a transfer to the main race, with Geoff Davey, Kristy Bonsey, Sean Rose and Nathan Black rounding out the finishers. Anthony Lambert, Karl Hoffmans and Anthony Vanderreyden all failed to finish the event.
Marcus Dumesny and Aaron Kelly shared the front row for the start of the main race, but it was Andrew Scheuerle from position three who quickly moved into the race lead once the lights went green. Allan Woods and Lachlan McHugh both began making their way forward, with Woods moving ahead of Mitchell Gee and challenging Kelly on the top side. Lachlan McHugh and Luke Oldfield battled mid-field, both eager to get to the front after starting deep in the field, but the race was brought under caution when Kevin Titman made contact with the concrete wall and slowed to a stop in turn two. Damage to the front end of the Q59 racer of Titman left him out of the race with just four laps completed.
Andrew Scheuerle led the restart from Marcus Dumesny and Allan Woods, with Aaron Kelly close behind and thirty-one laps still to run. Kelly got into the back of Woods as they took the green, setting off a chain reaction behind that left Kelly with a flat rear tyre. While Kelly tried to battle on the race was brought under caution and he retired to the infield and out of the race.
With thirty laps still on the board Andrew Scheuerle again led them to the restart with Marcus Dumesny, and Allan Woods on his tail. The battle for the minors was in full swing, with Danny Reidy, Michael Saller, Lachlan McHugh and Peter Lack racing four wide through turn two, while Allan Woods and Mitchell Gee traded blows as they negotiated over third and fourth. Reidy soon joined Woods and Gee, with Woods then making contact with the wall and pulled out of the event with twenty-two laps still to run. Gee, carrying impressive speed in the V3 racer, began closing in on Dumesny and Scheuerle, catching the leading pair in only a few laps. Dumesny had a quick look underneath Scheuerle but could not quite make it work, with Dumesny soon forced on the defensive as Gee began to challenge on the top side with sixteen laps left to run. Gee switched to the bottom and slid beautifully underneath Dumesny, while behind them Lachlan McHugh and Danny Reidy raced wheel-to-wheel, switching places back and forth a number of times, with Michael Saller closing in fast. As the leaders raced their way past the back markers, it became an intense and exciting four-way battle for control of the race. What followed was an exceptional display of Sprintcar racing that will long be remembered by all those who were lucky enough to witness it. Dumesny, Gee and McHugh traded places back and forth as they negotiated over positions two, three and four, while behind them Danny Reidy and Michael Saller were breath-taking as they switched back and forth and back again several times while fighting over fifth and sixth. Gee ran the top side before switching to the bottom and getting underneath Scheuerle to take control of the race, but it was short-lived as McHugh made his way to the front. Gee and McHugh had a brilliant battle for the lead, with Gee momentarily regaining control before McHugh was finally able to secure control with only a few laps left to run. Lachlan McHugh got the win and is the new Queensland Champion, with Mitchell Gee storming home in second and Marcus Dumesny rounding out the podium in third. Danny Reidy finished fourth ahead of Bryan Mann and Michael Saller, while Andrew Scheuerle, who led comfortably until the final dozen laps, finished seventh. Peter Lack was next across the line ahead of Luke Oldfield, Brent Kratzmann, Jai Stephenson, Ben Hilder, Blake Darcy, Mitch Gowland, Mark Pholi, Nicholas Whell and Jason King. Allan Woods, Aaron Kelly and Kevin Titman all failed to finish the event.
Congratulations to Lachlan McHugh and his team on a very well-deserved Queensland Title win, and to all the drivers and teams who competed last night on a truly exceptional night of Sprintcar racing. Sprintcars Queensland will return to Ausdeck Patios and Roofing Archerfield Speedway next Saturday night, 11 May 2019, for another thrilling night of Sprintcar racing. The track championship is starting to heat up and you will not want to miss a moment of the action. See you trackside race fans!

WHAT A RACE!!! It doesn’t get any better than that race fans! LACHLAN MCHUGH wins an absolutely EPIC Queensland Title and is our new Q1, with defending champion Mitchell Gee home in second, only narrowly missing out on achieving back-to-back Queensland Titles, with Marcus Dumesny rounding out the podium. Andrew Scheuerle led most of the race, but came under enormous pressure as the laps ticked away, the lead changing several times as Scheuerle, McHugh, Gee and Dumesny negotiated over the top four placings, and control of the race, in an intense and captivating battle for Queensland Title honours. Danny Reidy and Michael Saller both had impressive runs, while Allan Woods was a front runner until a flat rear tyre prematurely ended his race. Massive congratulations to Lachlan McHugh and his team on winning the Queensland Title tonight, and to all of the drivers and teams who helped put on a truly memorable night of Sprintcar racing.
