LISTER IS THE MASTER AND FAUX MIGHT JUST BE TOO

Redline Raceway played host to One hundred racers on Saturday night the 20th of February with

Open Sedans taking centre stage and fifty Street Stocks getting one last run in before the upcoming

national championship on the Mount where 139 drivers will bid to be crowned, Australia # 1 & Sean

Lister along with Robbie Faux finished the night as the big dogs in town picking up important wins.

The ‘Open Sedan Masters’ is the big Open Sedan event for the season at Redline & a great field of

thirty cars did battle for the $1000- winners prize up for grabs. A number of big hitters didn’t even

make it to the final with mechanical issues or crashes ending their however the feature race was

sensational with a number of powerful V8 cars having to fight each other whilst 6 cylinder machines

tried to catch them unawares.

Lister as a result of three heat wins in his qualifying started on pole position with Fawns alongside

after his two heat wins for the start of the final with Leigh Bourke, Scott Ellis, Lucas Conder, Corey

Knox, Tim Hutchinson & Kayla Knox the top eight starters.

The going was fast & furious, with drivers such as Shane Belk, Tim Williams, Craig Phillips & David

Donegan finding themselves outside the top five. As the race unfolded it would be Lister who started

pole who would go on to win was able to take a win over Nathan Fawns, Leigh Bourke, Corey Knox &

Tim Hutchinson.

For the Street Stocks making the final in the last chance to race at Redline before well over 130

drivers come back for the Australian title in a few weeks time were names like Robbie Faux, Daniel

Barton both former Street Stock national champions and current Modified Sedan national champion

Mark Carlin, plenty of local members and Ballarat residents such as Shaun Henry, Darren Giacometti,

Darryl Atkinson, Darren Forrest, Darren Paisley, Dale & Jayden Blomeley, Rocky Grima & Kye

Walters.

Taking out the win in his first meeting for the season at Redline was Mildura’s Robbie Faux with

Lenny Bates second, Darren Forrest in third then Giacometti, Henry, Atkinson, Jamie Lock, Richard

Bansemer, Paisley & Chris Stewart rounding out the top ten.

Earlier Atkinson, Lock, Bates x 3, Scott Mason, Jayden Edwards, Carlin, Giacometti x 2, Darren Forrest

& Eugene Bennett where heat winners.

In Mini Sprints Dave May from Lara near Geelong again proved dominant on the Mount, when he

was too good for Brad Lowe formally his crew chief on other race machines then came Matt Parsons,

Own Bulman then Jason Lynn.

The Standard Saloons was decided on points after two heats due to time constraints with Allan

Farmer the victor from Nathan Hutchins, Mick Hume, Jo-Anne Scott & Patrick Walsh.
