HILL WINS CHIVERS. COLLINS CONTINUES REDLINE DOMINANCE

The annual Chivers Memorial night for Standard Saloons has been won by a driver that loves Redline

Raceway, (Which isn't unusual) although not a local when Russell Hill was able to head into town &

take the big win, whilst in Amca Nationals Jamie Collins continued a streak of wins at the venue

capping it off with number four in a row.

The Standard Saloons had a great thirty car entry list prior to the qualifying to determine the starters

for the big feature. Top drivers from around Victoria all arrived at the track to do their thing & top

qualifier Scott Whittle was offered a bonus amount of cash if he would start from the rear and try &

win from there.

The cream in the feature field rose to the top as the race sorted itself out with some very strong

combinations finishing in the top eight. Whittle worked from last to second passing all bar Hill & the

mates ended up first & second with Hill taking what is classed as a big victory in speedway circles

from Whittle, Aaron Marshall, Redline member Craig Templeton & Luke Dart.

Collins win in the Amca Nationals knocked off Australian Champion Mark Lincoln in a great battle

that could have ended Collins Redline dominance. In picking up the win Collins has picked up some

confidence ahead of big events coming up soon. The inform Dean Heseltine was third in front of the

Mills boys Matt & Jamie whilst in the final Greg Firmin & Paul Sullivan where involved in a big crash

where Firmin ended up on his lid and Sullivan on top of him!

Local Ballarat racers competed in the V8 Thunder Sedans with Anthony Wilson continuing his firm

grasp on trophies taking the win from John Agosta & Greg Raggatt.

Nathan Fawns backed up his last win in Unlimited Sedans with victory again in Darren Nelson’s car

this time ahead of Scott Ellis & Corey Knox in a great result for him with Tim Hutchinson & Matty

Chimminello.

Street Stocks joined the show to allow drivers to continue to tune up for the upcoming Australian

title in March. Jayden Blomeley ended up top points after three heat races and win the night from

Sebastopol’s Jason Degoldi, Riddells Creeks Robert Tinworth, Eugene Bennett & Ballarats Jack

Bishop.

The next event is a double night of racing on Friday the 19th of February and Saturday the 20th for

the annual Open Sedan Masters two night show. Racing will start from 7pm on the Friday night and

from 4pm on the Saturday with Daylesford Speedway Club Sedans & Thunder Sedans on the Friday

as support & Street Stocks, Standard Saloons & Mini Sprints on the Saturday.
