NAPA AUTO PARTS & PIONEER POLE BUILDINGS PRESENT JERSEY RUSH V AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY TUESDAY, AUGUST 25
DANNY DIETRICH, GREG HODNETT, & LUCAS WOLFE AMONG HIGH POWERED 410 SPRINT PRE-ENTRIES
Race fans are abuzz as anticipation builds for the only combined appearance of the top divisions of the region – the 410 Sprint Cars and the Modifieds – together in one event at Ocean County, NJ’s New Egypt Speedway on Tuesday, August 25. Driver entries are pouring in and the cream of the crop are Garden State bound for the NAPA Auto Parts & Pioneer Pole Buildings Jersey Rush V.
While the competitors prepare for action, race fans have an early opportunity to enjoy some fun with a pre-race pit party from 5 PM – 6 PM. Fans will be able to enter the pits from New Egypt’s turn-4 Victory Lane and see the sights and hear the sounds of race teams preparing for battle and get autographs from the area’s top drivers.
Among the competitors is Gettyburg, PA’s Danny Dietrich. The man they call ‘Double D’ has been on a hot streak of late, claiming major wins at Grandview Speedway’s Inaugural Thunder Cup and the Williams Grove Raceway’s World of Outlaws Summer Nationals. Dietrich, fresh off of a Knoxville Nationals A-Main performance, has momentum on his side heading into Jersey Rush V. Dietrich thrilled the fans recently making a late race move to win the Thunder Cup at the Grandview Speedway in late July.
Thomasville, PA’s Greg Hodnett, the current Central PA Sprint Car Series Point Series leader, is easily a favorite going into Tuesday, August 25. Hodnett has proven that he is ultra-fast, especially when it comes to non-traditional sprint car tracks – having scooped up 4 of the last 5 Thunder on the Hill races at Grandview Speedway, another speedway unfamiliar to many sprint drivers.
The Jersey Rush is known for unpredictable finishes, as well as, first time winners. In 2014, Ryan Smith of Kunkletown, PA claimed his first ever 410 victory and in 2011, JJ Grasso of Middletown, DE did the same thing – both have gone on to win multiple events, but claiming your first at New Egypt Speedway is always meaningful. Plenty of drivers on the cusp of their first 410 victory will be in action on Tuesday, August 25 including: Davie Franek – who has claimed 360 Sprint Car wins at New Egypt, Kyle Reinhardt, Robbie Stillwaggon, Brandon Rahmer, Tyler Ross and Freddie Rahmer Jr.
Competitors will Time Trial to determine their starting spot in a 10 lap qualifying event, with an invert making things more interesting. The top two finishers in each qualifying event will re-draw along with the three fastest qualified cars to determine the starting positions in the A-Main. The remainder of the field will be determined in a 12 lap B-Main event.
The lucrative payout will offer a $5,000 to win, $1,000 for tenth position and $400 to start.
Sprint Drivers are encouraged to pre-enter for this event. Entry fee includes 3 Pit Passes (driver and 2 crew members), plus 3 EG Tire & Auto Center Pre-Race BBQ Tickets (4-5 PM) for the fee of $50.
Also in action, the Big Block Modifieds will compete with a standard body package, whereas, Small Block Modifieds will have the option to compete with the popular sail panels. The 30 lap event will offer a $3,000 top prize to competitors, $1,000 for fifth, $350 for tenth and $175 to start.
Modified competitors will draw for Heat Race Groups, and participate in timed Warm-Ups with that group. The heat races will be lined-up based on time with an invert of 4 positions. The top qualifiers in heat race action with re-draw for the A-Main Starting positions.
Modified drivers are encouraged to pre-enter for this event. There is no cost to pre-enter, but pre-entered drivers will receive a free pit pass.

About Us |
Fort Dix Speedway - Plumsted Twp., NJ
Fort Dix Speedway (aka: New Egypt Speedway) was built as a dirt track in the 1950's and paved in the 60's. The Fort Dix name gave way to New Egypt Speedway, then later Central Jersey Speedway before continuous yearly action stop in the 1980's. The track would open back up occasionally, lastly for a short season in the early 1990's.
Rick Grosso bought the old New Egypt paved track from the Grabac family in the mid 90's. At first many East Windsor Speedway racers would make the drive down route 539, as New Egypt now once again offered area fans two nights of dirt track racing as the Flemington Fair Speedway was paved in 1991.
The speedway was enlarged and reconfigured three times under the Grosso family, to end up a small 1/2-mile "D" shaped clay speedway that would once again be in continuous operation since 1998.
Bill Miscoski & Fred Vahlsing then purchased the speedway from the Grosso's, and after their second season, put down new red clay and widened the speedway. New Egypt is currently a 7/16-mile clay surface D-shaped speedway. In 2013, Fred Vahlsing became sole-owner of New Egypt Speedway.
New Egypt Speedway was the last dirt speedway in New Jersey that featured DIRT Modifieds, and both of the World of Outlaw touring series.
Many great drivers have competed over the years at New Egypt Speedway, such drivers included: Ray Evernham, Jimmy Spencer, John Blewett and Tony Siscone to name just a few. More information may also be found at NJ Racing Nostalgia.
Some of the speedway's paved records are now being posted.
