Now is the time to get involved, start supporting & get involved.
MRCC are putting on two community information sessions about the motorsports project on Tues 5 April and Wednesday 6 April at 6pm at the Benetook Room.
As the work on the business case for the proposed Mildura Motorsports Precinct continues, Mildura Rural City Council is inviting interested residents to attend an information evening to find out more about the project.
These information sessions will offer an opportunity for community members to understand what the motorsport project is all about, the history, the benefits of the project, what will be in the Business Case and timelines to completion.
Mayor Glenn Milne said the information sessions are an opportunity for anyone who is interested in the project to come along and learn a little more about the overall vision for the future of motorsports in our region.
“The business case is still being finalised, but these sessions will provide the community an understanding of how this project has come about, the many benefits that have been identified through previous work completed, and provide an understanding of what the Business Case will include.” Cr Milne explained.
“It’s not just about building a bitumen raceway – it’s about developing an area that will rival any in our state and making sure the precinct will be self-sustainable in the long term.”
Early planning, benchmarking and feasibility studies have indicated that motorsports inject around $21.4million dollars each year into the local economy and with the right infrastructure, this could increase to over $61.7million in the coming years.
“I really encourage anyone with an interest in the project including people in tourism, hospitality, retail or investment or with an interest in potential future development opportunities in our region, to come along to one of the meetings and see the wider benefits of this project,” Cr Milne said. “There is potential for growth and employment in a range of industries locally.
“We’ve always indicated that the success of this project will require some form of private investment and this is a great opportunity to see the formal presentation and then start to think about where your business could benefit.”
The meetings are open to everyone will be held at 6pm in the Benetook Room at the Alfred Deakin Centre on Tuesday 5 April and Wednesday 6 April. To RSVP or find out further information, please contact Jarrod Delahunty, Events Projects Officer on (03) 5018 8100.
