The Australian Nationals Update
The Australian Nationals Just a short note to firstly thank everyone for their support of the Rowe Memorial event last Sunday which was a good precursor to The Australian Nationals coming up, advise you about some preliminary info & whats planned for the Nationals and remind everyone entries are open: http://calderparkdragracing.com.au/index.php/competitor-info/australian-nationals-online-entry-form A very big thank you goes out to all the fans, competitors and Sponsors that made the return of the iconic Rowe Memorial event a hit as well as congratulations to the many racers that run their PB’s and records. Nino Cavallo running 7.06/176 shutting off at 6.05 sec in the run, Robin Taylor's 6.0 in his Top Doorslammer, Perry Bullivant going 7.0 putting him in the No2 spot for the World 275 Drag Radial record, Tom Dimitropoulos running .18 under his A/MS record and Daniel Camilleri running 7.72/176 way under the DD/Gas record, just to name a few. This event did present us with some insight into what areas we need to improve on which we have already actioned to resolve be it operational, system or infrastructure related. Being Calder Park unfortunately we do have more critics and are more heavily scrutinised than any other track in the country no matter how well an event runs. If there is something that you feel requires our attention please let us know rather than social media as social media will not help or improve anything. Now more than ever, Melbourne via Calder is a critical link to ensure Drag Racing continues on at a truly national level and key for any support and growth that drag racing will receive from the corporate’s and the general public. Our sport does need your support by you racing events and promoting the sport in a positive light if it is to survive nationally. I am pleased to confirm The Australian Nationals already has the required numbers and will be running ¼ mile: Top Fuel, Top Alcohol, Top Door Slammer, Pro Stock Car & Motorcycle plus looking strong for all Sportsman categories and ask you do your best to support it in any way you can. I urge you to support Calder and all the tracks nationally both major and regional to help keep our sport survive and grow throughout Australia by focusing on the positive elements in our sport. We will be updating the Calder Park DragRacing info page with any information regarding the Australian Nationals so please stay posted. Best wishes and hope you have a safe and prosperous 2016!!! |
Street meets are a great way to try out drag racing and test the performance of your everyday street vehicle in a safe and legal environment.
Calder Park will be hosting ANDRA sanctioned street meets through the second half of 2013 so you can experience the thrill of Melbourne's own quarter mile.
Entry cost: $65 (includes $5 ANDRA divisional day licence)
Spectator entry: $25
To go racing at street meets, all you need is a street vehicle that passes basic safety checks on tyres, brakes, steering and liquid leaks. If you race a vehicle with a manufacture date of pre 1 January 2008 you can run up to 11.00 seconds without the need for a tech inspection or ANDRA licence. Vehicles manufactured post 1 January 2008 can run to 10.00 seconds without the need for a tech inspection or ANDRA licence. Check www.andra.com.au for specific information on safety and licence requirements.
