History
The Squash Australia Board is determined and in accordance with the direct suggestions of the members to get the History of Squash in Australia finalised. We have made a start and hope it is accurate. Please let the Squash Australia office know if you find anything that you think is not correct. If anyone would like to suggest things about the History of Squash Australia or wanting to help on the National Historical Committee please contact us.
Squash Australia has a wide range of information relating to the history of the sport in this country.
The highest honour for former stars is induction into the Hall Of Fame, which recognises those exceptional players who have reached the very top of the game. Inductees are recognised at the annual Hall of Fame Dinner, which generally takes place in late March.
Australia has a long history of success at major World Championships, the Commonwealth Games and the British Open. Find a list of all Australian champions at these events, as well as the teams that have represented Australia in the past.
The Australian titles are the highest domestic honour and Squash Australia has a record of all national open and junior champions.

Australia seeded seventh, grouped with England for Women's Team Championships.
Egypt, led by world No3 Raneem El Welily, are expected to retain their title in next month's SHOP.CA WSF Women's World Team Squash Championship in Canada after being named as top seeds by the World Squash Federation.
Teams from 20 nations - featuring all the world's top ten players - will compete in the 19th staging of the biennial championship at White Oaks Conference Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, from 1-6 December.
Favourites Egypt boast a formidable squad featuring four players within the world top 11 - and are expected to line up against second seeds England in the final for the fourth time since 2006, when they met in the climax for the first time, also in Canada!
Winners of the trophy for the first time in 2008, Egypt are looking for a third title - while England, led by reigning world champion Laura Massaro, the world No2, will be hoping to repeat their most recent win in the 2006 final in Edmonton and claim the crown for the seventh time since 1985.
Malaysia are seeded to finish in third place for the fifth time in a row - but world number one Nicol David, supported by a squad including fellow Penangite Low Wee Wern, the world No7, will be determined to confound the seedings by winning the only major title to have so far eluded her.
Hong Kong China are expected to make the semi-finals for the first time and achieve their best-ever finish in their 12th appearance in the championships since 1985. Eighth-place finishers in the 2012 championship in France, the fourth seeds will be led by world No9 Annie Au.
Hosts Canada, who have competed in every championship since the inaugural event in 1979, are named as the 11th seeds and expected to earn their best finish since 2008. But the players (pictured above) led by the country's two-time champion Samantha Cornett, the world No30 from Ottawa, will be hoping that home advantage will steer the team to a first top eight finish since 2000 - and ultimately a repeat of their top four success 35 years ago!
There are also high hopes for USA - whose position as 6th seeds would see the Amanda Sobhy-led team repeat the nation's best-ever finishes in 1979 and 1983.
The Pool line-ups (with seeding in brackets) are as follows:
Pool A: [1] EGYPT, [8] IRELAND, [9] NEW ZEALAND, [13/16] COLOMBIA, [17/20] CHINA
Pool B: [2] ENGLAND, [7] AUSTRALIA, [10] WALES, [13/16] GERMANY, [17/20] SPAIN
Pool C: [3] MALAYSIA, [6] USA, [11] CANADA, [13/16] MEXICO, [17/20] GUATEMALA
Pool D: [4] HONG KONG CHINA, [5] FRANCE, [12] SOUTH AFRICA, [13/16] INDIA, [17/20] AUSTRIA

Cam Pilley is into the quarter finals at the World Squash Championships!
Unseeded Stephen Coppinger, the World No.24 from Cape Town, pulled off what he described as the biggest win of his career as he beat Egyptian World No.9 Tarek Momen to move into the quarter-finals of the 2014 Qatar PSA World Championship.
The 30-year-old, who knocked World No.11 Daryl Selby out in round one, put in a thunderous performance to get past Momen in an 85-minute thriller, completing the victory with a dramatic final rally to take the match 12-10, 9-11, 14-12, 8-11, 11-8.
It's a victory that sees him become the first South African since Roland Watson in 1979 to reach the quarter-finals and he will now take on World No.1 Mohamed Elshorbagy, conqueror of German Simon Rösner, for a place in the semi-finals.
"Considering the setting, the circumstance and that this is the World Championship, this is without a shadow of a doubt the biggest win of my career," said Coppinger.
"I was just a few points away from a win and then had to start all over again but I done something similar in the first round so I had the belief that I could do it.
"I'm in the quarters now and I don't think any player gets there easily, we've all had our own battles. I've come through a few of those so I'm mentally in the right place, so lets see what happens tomorrow."
Australia's top ranked squash player, Cameron Pilley, joined Coppinger as the only other unseeded player in the last eight after he defeated Botswanan Alister Walker 3-0.
Pilley, the current World No.20 from Yamba, took out World No.8 Peter Barker in his first round match and followed up that performance with an impressive and dominant display against Walker to set up a last eight encounter against World No.2 Gregory Gaultier.
"I'm absolutely stoked to be in the quarters of the World Championship," said Pilley.
"It's an awesome feeling, especially after the last few months where I've been out of form.
"Alister likes to use his physical attributes on the court and like with every player, I done what I could to neutralise their talents, and today everything worked to a tee for me."
Elsewhere defending champion Nick Matthew survived a tough test against Saurav Ghosal of India to set up a last eight battle with four-time champion Amr Shabana while two-time winner Ramy Ashour will meet Spanish champion Borja Golan after winning a thrilling match with Colombian Miguel Angle Rodriguez.
Results: 2014 Qatar PSA World Championship - Third Round Draw:

With thanks to Howard Harding, a wrap of Matt Hopkin's weekend win..
Hopkin Captures Caboolture Crown
Matthew Hopkin became the first home winner of the Caboolture Open for three years when he beat Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio in the final of the PSA Challenger 5 squash event in its fifth year at the Caboolture Squash and Fitness Centre in Caboolture, Australia.
The sixth seed from Brisbane made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals where he ousted top seed Gonzalo Miranda, recovering from two games down to beat the Argentinean in five games.
It was in the semi-finals that fifth seed Romiglio upset the form book when he overcame fellow countryman Robertino Pezzota, the No.2 seed.
Both players were celebrating the third PSA World Tour finals of their careers – but the 23-year-old Australian denied Romiglio his first ever title when he triumphed 11-7, 11-7, 3-11, 11-7.
The win marks the second Tour title of Hopkins’ career – and his second this year on home soil.

Nice wrap of Rachael Grinham's win at Caboolture on the weekend.
Grinham Grabs Latest WSA Title
A full 16 years after winning her first, Australian Rachael Grinham has picked up the 34th WSA World Tour title of her distinguished career after seeing off compatriot Lisa Camilleri in the final of the Women's Caboolture Open in Australia.
The 37-year-old former world number one reached the final of the WSA Tour 5 squash event at Caboolture Squash and Fitness Centre in Caboolture without dropping a game.
But second seed Camilleri, the world No50 from Queensland, twice led Grinham as she bid to beat the world No13 for the first ever time.
The experienced favourite was too strong for 31-year-old Camilleri, however, as Grinham closed out the match 8-11, 11-2, 5-11, 11-5, 11-8 to become the oldest winner of a WSA Tour title for more than two years.
Grinham's 34th title triumph strengthens her position in second place in the list of current players with the most titles to their credit - behind world number one Nicol David, who has 77 titles to her name. Interestingly, the player in third place - boasting 21 titles - is Lisa Camilleri!
