The father and son team based out of Melbourne have taken delivery of a new body and chassis for the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car rounds.

A 1992 Pontiac, complete with S&W chassis, has replaced the blue Mustang. The running gear from the Mustang will be going into the new car but it’s currently getting some upgrades by the team’s crew chief, Kim Tuohey.

The NHRA Championship winning car will get some new artwork, be re-wrapped in some new colours and be running under the name Russler II, stay tuned!

 

The Beach Bomb arrived on Aussie soil on December 8th, 2014. The nitro car fulfils a 40-year long dream for Tony Katavatis after never finishing his own funny car in 1974. Tony’s son Andrew will soon be piloting the new machine later this year in Perth, Western Australia alongside proud mum Erica, wife Michelle and sister Belle. 

West Coast AA/FC racer Kurt Cruise originally owned the car and the team are going through the car completely prior to its debut in the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series.

 

After many years of sitting out of the nitro funny car action, one of the most famous surnames is back on the track with the Atholwood brothers set to race in the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series. The new Atholwood Brothers machine will be a complete replica of their father’s ’79 Corvette. Ron drove the previous car at just 19 years of age and given the history of this team, they will hit the ground running!

This machine is top secret but this is a project using the combined skills of nitro veteran Rod Bailey and long time altered-racer pilot Stewart Prior. We don’t have the images just yet – but stay tuned for updates!

Using parts from both camps and the skills of Bailey, one thing we do know, this will be a rocket!
