Bayer Leverkusen have made Bundesliga history by becoming the first-ever side to go a full league campaign without losing a single game.
For the first time in 12 years, a new Bundesliga champion has been crowned after Bayern Munich’s relentless dominance of the German top flight.
Bayer Leverkusen has not only broken this incredible run but did it in spectacular fashion, finishing on 90 points and going the entire season unbeaten.
This makes Xabi Alonso’s side only the fourth team to achieve this incredible accomplishment in Europe’s top five leagues after Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus.

Their invincible status was cemented against Augsburg on the final day of the season on Saturday afternoon, winning 2-1 in front of their home supporters.
Despite the tension surrounding the final hurdle of their incredible run, Leverkusen looked completely unphased as Victor Boniface broke the deadlock after only 12 minutes.
Robert Andrich doubled the home side’s advantage 15 minutes later before Mert Komur grabbed Augsburg a consolation goal in the second half.
The Spanish manager is still on track to make even more history as his side chase down a historic treble, with Atalanta awaiting them in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

Roberto De Zerbi’s final game as head coach of Brighton & Hove Albion will be Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.
De Zerbi has been touted as a potential candidate to replace Erik ten Hag as United manager, while he has also attracted attention from Bayern Munich.
The Italian was under contract with Brighton until June 2026 but the club released a statement on Saturday to announce that he will be leaving the AMEX Stadium this summer.
It read: “Brighton & Hove Albion has confirmed that head coach Roberto De Zerbi will leave the club after tomorrow’s final Premier League match of the season against Manchester United at the American Express Stadium.
“De Zerbi, who joined Brighton in September 2022, following the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea, oversaw the club’s highest top flight finish in 2022/23 and led the club to the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League earlier this season.”
De Zerbi was quoted within the statement as saying: “I am very sad to be leaving Brighton, but I am very proud of what my players and staff have achieved with the support of everyone at the club and our amazing fans in the past two historical seasons.
“We have agreed to end my time at Brighton so that the club and I can continue to work in the way that suits each of us best, following our own ideas and visions, as well as our work and human values.
“I have really enjoyed an intense and challenging two years working in the Premier League, not least competing in four major competitions this season. Leaving now provides me with time to take a break before deciding on my future plans.”
Brighton chairman Tony Bloom added: “Roberto has given us two excellent seasons of service in which he has led the club to new heights, not least our first ever European campaign which will live long in the memory of Albion fans.
“We have mutually agreed to end Roberto’s contract at a time that suits both parties allowing us the earliest opportunity to plan for next season, and Roberto plenty of time to consider his next move and his future.
“I am sure our fans will give Roberto and his staff a wonderful and fully deserved send off at the Amex before, during and after tomorrow’s match.
“In the meantime, I’d like to thank Roberto and his staff for all their hard work in the past two seasons. They all leave our club on good terms and with our very best wishes for the future.”

Chelsea will have a new specialist set-piece coach from the start of the 2024/25 campaign after recruiting Bernardo Cueva from west London rivals Brentford.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X.com , Chelsea will pay Brentford £750,000 in compensation for the 36-year-old.
The move will see Cueva leave Brentford after almost four years, having joined the club’s coaching staff in September 2020.

Since October 2021, Cueva has also been part of the backroom staff for the Norway men’s national team.
He was previously employed by Mexican side Chivas as strategic analysis manager from 2017 to 2020.
Cueva has regularly accompanied head coach Thomas Frank on the Brentford bench this season, including during an impressive 2-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October when the Mexican was shown a yellow card by referee Simon Hooper.
Chelsea have not yet publicly announced the appointment of Cueva.
However, Brentford confirmed his imminent departure in a club statement on Saturday.
It read: “Tactical statistician Bernardo Cueva will leave Brentford at the end of the season.
“Cueva has been with the club since September 2020, generating new insights from data and working closely with the Bees’ coaching staff.”
The statement then included a quote from Brentford director of football Phil Giles, who wrote: “Bernardo has done a fantastic job for us over the last four seasons.
“His first season ended with promotion to the Premier League, and he has played a key role in us now achieving four successive Premier League seasons.
“Part of Bernardo’s role relates to our set-piece strategies, and this is an area I think everyone at the club can be proud about.
“He leaves with the blessing and best wishes of everyone at Brentford.”

Chelsea will be hoping that Cueva can be as successful as Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.
Set-piece specialist Jover also used to work for Brentford before moving to Manchester City in 2019.
After helping City reduce the number of goals conceded from set-pieces by 35%, Jover moved to Arsenal two years later.
Jover has received a lot of media attention this season as a result of Arsenal’s superb record from attacking corners.
With one game remaining, the Gunners have already equalled the record for most goals scored from corners in a single Premier League season (16).

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have initiated discussions to re-sign Ross Barkley from Luton Town.
The report indicates that manager Unai Emery has sanctioned the move, signalling the club’s intent to bring back the former Everton and Chelsea midfielder.
Aston Villa are reportedly actively working on a deal to secure Barkley’s services but face competition from several rival Premier League clubs.
Barkley has had a standout season with Luton Town, having joined on a free transfer on last August, after leaving Nice.
Since his arrival, he has made 37 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists from a deep midfield position, performances that have attracted the interest of multiple clubs.
With Luton Town now relegated, Barkley is keen to remain in the Premier League, which has sparked a race among clubs to sign the 30-year-old.
His familiarity with Aston Villa could work in their favour, having previously spent a season on loan with the club.
During his loan spell, Barkley made 24 appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist, although his impact was limited.
Aston Villa see Barkley’s experience and recent form as valuable assets as they look to bolster their midfield options for the upcoming season.
Villa manager Unai Emery is eager to strengthen the squad, specially with the team qualifying for the Champions League next season. Barkley’s return would enhance Villa’s midfield, reflecting the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level.
